Fact. And I don't even watch that show.

When the "christian kardashian" thread popped up I thought it was one of the sisters.

Y'all do realize this guy wasn't the runner up, right? I don't think ESPN even announces the runner-up. I've seen this meme a few times (and assume it was the one Sammy was referring to) -- I guess it shouldn't be amazing anymore how fast false info spreads.

People that were born in 76 turn 39 this year. You have have to be 50 to maybe remember hearing about Jenner sports-wise.

Aside from Deckard, Father Time's best friend, I don't know anyone else who would remember hearing about Jenner.

You know, the world would be so much better if we just looked at humans like they were other humans. Amirite? You're a human. I'm a human. We are humans. He's a human. They're human. Who gives a the bird's flying dump what others do, if it has no harm to you?

Is his life a negative externality to me if I get my rustles jimmied? Yea, sure: I get all worked up and stuff. I am mad. Roar.
Is his life a negative externality if I just live my own life? Nope, moving along.

Let people do their thing. Really, people are going to do things you may think are crazy, and you are going to do things that people think are crazy. So when you want nobody else to judge you, don't judge others when in a similar position.

Yep, as an "under 35" person, I can confirm that I had no idea who Jenner was. Only thing I heard of him was related to a Kardashian of some sort.

Looks better than many at my college, unfortunately. And that's not really complimenting Jenner's looks there... :(

So what has Jenner done for sports since the 70s? Become trans-gendered. It'd be different if Jenner actually played a sport as a transgendered woman, but she didn't. The only recent thing done kill a 69 year old lady by means of vehicular manslaughter because of negligent driving. Terrible choice E$PN.

Yeah that's probably the best argument against giving shim the award. And that has nothing to do with the change.

The year thing is so stupid.

Are you guys going to tell me that ESPN is a joke if they give Kerri Strug a lifetime achievement award someday?

Why do all these people keep talking about Bill Russell? He retired in the 60s! So irrelevant!

If 20 years from now Usain Bolt has some newsworthy event happen in his life, ESPN will cover it. (Assuming they exist) I doubt people will complain about relevancy.

I can only offer anecdotal evidence, but I am around your age, and I had no idea Jenner was even on TV until reading this thread, but I knew of his Olympic exploits for almost 20 years now (first heard of it during my the 96 Olympics).

And you'd have to be 160 to have heard about Abraham Lincoln.

Jenner's actions are selfish and narcissistic. He has let down many people who viewed him as an hero, such as my impressionable young nephews and nieces. How can I explain to them now that he isn't even a man?

Your brothers and/or sisters should be the ones struggling with explaining this grim news to them.

The same way you explained to them that OJ Simpson killed his wife and that waiter returning her glasses. ;)

Actually we beginning to look at humans like Suits
You can change just about *anything* about them . . . .
You body is just a suit you put on for a time . .. . .in time. . . .we will switch them . . . similar to the movie Surrogates

young boy likes to run around and doesn't listen to adults telling him to stop = ADHD (mental illness). does not receive courage award for being hyper.

guy wants to chop off a limb because they don't feel the limb belongs on their body = BIID (mental illness). does not receive courage award for chopping off limb.

guy wants to chop off his penis, grow breasts because he thinks he's a woman =/= mental illness. receives courage award.

it's almost like deaf people who refuse to get the cochlear implant out of some misguided attempt to elevate their illness.

Actually I dont even know why I'm arguing about this bs courage award. last year they awarded it to a guy who tried to use his homosexuality to force an NFL team to waste a pick on him. same dude was all "no no i'm normal, i dont want any attention"...and then we find out he had a reality show planned with cameras documenting his every move. whos getting the award next year? I'm sure there's a transgendered lesbian dwarf somewhere who needs to come out of the closet.

They will probably be more accepting to it than you are.
