anyone making TWD comparison should rethink their stance. TWD is a **** show that uses zombies as a crutch for everything to avoid plot holes.

once the show ends in a couple years, HBO is going to want to continue to milk this IP

I imagine there will be a miniseries focused on Robert's Rebellion, which would be pretty cool

You always know a really good show when you are watching and it's over in no time. I can't say I really have it all figured out at this point. I'm more a casual watcher than trying to understand every little detail. I just know it's total eye candy and I'm mesmerized whenever it is on...and then it's over. A whole show feels like it passes in a few minutes. It's like I go into a trance when watching it. Then, I blink and it's over. This is the type of show I wish I could just wait and binge watch the whole f-ing thing straight through. It reminds me of that "Portlandia" episode where the main characters sat around for days watching the newer "Battlestar Galactica" series in its entirety. I should have waited and just done that. ;)

I'm REALLY hoping for them to continue doing shows.

I haven't read them, but a miniseries on the Dunk and Egg stories would be something I'd watch. A mini-series on the fall of Valyria and subsequent invasion of Westeros would be cool.

I actually feel the opposite most of the time. With too many concurrent storylines, the episodes that fit in too many characters and plots always bore me because they spend 5-6 minutes per plot and it gets too segmented. This previous episode was done well. The first half hour was those 5-6 minute plots for a few characters and the last half hour focused on Jon Snow's story.

With that format, you can move along numerous plots to set up for later episodes, and then give the viewers a lead story to entrench them in the episode. A lot of the storylines are boring because they're set up to pay off later. Jon Snow's story was awful in seasons 1-3. Arya's has been bad this season. If there's one issue I have with the show, it's the pacing.

I want a full series where the Sand Snake girl presents her tittays every episode. Maybe "Summer is coming", where there's an incredibly hot summer coming and the females strip down to withstand the heat.

Pacing would not be AS BAD if they did 22 episodes
but 10 episodes and year. . .then you wait a year. . . .is maddening slow

We need this on free-tv, so it has to be subtle.

You'd think they would want 10 season to put into syndication on FX or something. That's where the gold is.

They do want 10, but the show runners are in charge. HBO has stated they will not force them to stretch the show to 10 seasons if the writers don't think it makes sense. The writers are pretty clear they want to end it in 7.

A lot can change between now and then though, but as of now they are pacing it to end in 7.

My favorite episodes of the series are when they follow that format.

GoT zombies were cool before zombies were cool.

I'm not even sure HBO could neuter GOT enough to get it syndicated without losing a lot of the appeal in the series in the first place.

Just wanted to QFT. Still surprised how popular the show is.

Anyway yes, Hardhome (sp?) was fantastic. I'll be watching the episode again this weekend.

I really don't think the TWD is a bad show at all, its just very out-matched by GOT, its source material, acting, and the budget/freedom that HBO gives the showrunners.

TWD I think is actually about to establish a new environment where its not just Ricks group vs. a villian like the Governor. Based on the source material it might get better with more groups to follow. But yes... GOT makes TWD look like B-level quality.

The advice I'd give TWD showrunners is to not even try and out-do GOT. You aren't going to win that. Do what you do best. That show is at its best when it actually has "FUN" with characters like Daryl, and even Carol. Too much seriousness and Soap opery drama really drags that show down.

GOT has done crazy good with the task at hand, but keep in mind that there is a good reason why GRRM hasn't finished the books yet. Since we really have no idea what kind of mess is waiting with the source material that can be challenging to put on screen, the showrunners at HBO have a very difficult task at hand to wrap up GOT. We could easily be very harsh on them in two years is they botch the conclusion of the series.

Its not a comparison to the two shows. They are wights, not zombies. Its disappointing they used the atypical zombie costume for the wights. Wights, ironically, are the walking dead. I dont want to be "that book guy", but GRRM described them very differently. A freshly killed body that became a wight would only be distinguishable by the blue of their eyes, not half rotted corpses that resembled World War Z zombies.
