How is this any different than someone born with male or female genitals, but believing themselves to be the opposite gender? Maybe what you're talking about are those crossdressers that secretly do it to play "pretend". This is different.
One reason could be that those undergoing the former are doing it because it is their choice while the latter is typically being forced upon someone who is being told they're evil until they pray the gay away. If it was anyone else on this board, I'd assume this was a sarcastic question.
That's a judgment as well. What you're not supposed to do is make someone feel bad for doing something which makes them feel whole/complete and does not affect or harm you in any way.
Exactly. I'm sympathetic towards people that deal with issues like this in their daily life, and maybe Jenner was the same way at one point, but is it really necessary to do a Diane Sawyer interview, be on the cover of Vanity Fair and have your own reality TV show? At a certain point it became more about the fame and money (which she already has plenty of BTW) than the actual struggle itself.
That's fine with regard to Jenner but the entire point of this "controversy" is that she is a public figure. Would you undergo a sex change operation for money and publicity? Although you can question the motive of celebrities in coming out as gay or trans, they are encouraging tolerance. What harm is being caused?
maybe it's to educate people and let people who are in that position to know it's okay and they should be whatever they want to be. there's hundreds/thousands of suicides for transgender people every year
