All depends on KJ McDaniels. Per Bima, his QO is $1 million and every dollar above that counts against the MLE. If KJ's offer doesn't go above $2 million, we would still be able to offer Llull $4.5 million per.
Llull has about a month to decide. He cant drag it all summer because the mle is needed for the other fa (kj smith). If he comes then great but if not he better know by start of july.
Great job, as usual, J.R.! No too surprising that McHale views our needs going forward the same way many of us do. Glad to hear from McHale that they are trying to get Llull over here. That's not surprising, either, but still good to hear. I think he'd be a great fit on the Rockets. I thought he hinted that Bev might be on his way out, and Llull on his way in, if Sergio will agree to come over as our starting point guard for the MLE. Maybe I'm reading too much into a comment from McHale on the radio, but that's the feeling I'm getting. We'll see. I'll comment on the other stuff later.
Didn't like the Radio Host guy... Ariza has far better offensive ability than given credit for. He didn't even consider chemistry or how the calls were so skewed to GSW favor in the first 2 wins. Doesn't know what he's talking about.
IDK how I feel about Lull.. I think I would rather have a guy like Augustine who's a proven NBA player and has really blossomed
That was before the latest report from Morey. He expressed an interest in signing him, but there was no mention of any reciprocal interest on Llull's part.
You missed the update. The latest is that he doesn't want to come over because he likes Madrid and the first small taste of victory Real managed to give to him.
I know someone last night pointed Llull is a combo guard but that is a good thing for the Rockets. We need someone that can shoot, score and create. Llull also has the size to guard 1's and 2's, which is important with Harden on the floor. Llull would make our fast break offense deadly. He pushes the ball literally every time he can, he makes good decisions on the break and is deadly pulling up for 3 in transition. He isn't going to shoot 40% on 3's but can shoot 36%-37% if his game translates, and that is with a high volume including some shots like Gilbert Arenas used to make in transition.... Very much "No! No! How the hell did he make that!"
He isn't as good a passer as John a Wall and not that kind of athlete. He is more like Ginobili as far as type of athlete and craftiness. Llull is a good to very good penetrator in a half court set that can take and make very off balance and unorthodoxed shots. He can use screens well. His jumper can be inconsistent and on ocassion be turnover prone. In the full court he is electric. His body control is excellent, very deceptive with the ball with great instincts and really picks up steam. He gets down the court very fast and finishes extremely well. He also has become very proficient at shooting 3's on the run. His release is quick. Defensively he is good in Europe with effort. I think he would be atleast adequate. He has good size and while he isn't a superb athlete like Wall, the guys he would struggle against, are the ones most guards struggle against. He also understands rotations well but doesn't always stay disciplined. As a player he has huge nuts, not afraid to take any shot from anywhere under any circumstances. He absolutely has a passion for the game and winning. He has an edge to him which I suspect will rub opponents the wrong way in the NBA. His game is a little wild and undisciplined. My only real concern in the NBA is his shooting. In Europe he is comfortable and knows he will get his shots. In the NBA if his field goal % falls 4-5% his effectiveness will too. A lot of his game is feel so he needs to be comfortable. He is potentially almost perfect for The Rockets.
Yeah.... Hey what is 20% unemployment rate (33% for under 25) and widespread economic unrest and instability
Good description. Reminds me a little of Dragic as well. He doesn't seem as turnover prone as you made him sound. His assist to turnover ratio is 6:1
Lucky for him he is a multimillionaire huh? I like living in Houston, but Madrid is a much better city. Now, if you are looking for employment on the other hand, Houston is where it's at!
