Joseph is nowhere near as good as Lin -- even on defense. You guys are really desperate to find a PG who's even half as good as Lin, but you would rather lose without him than win with him. You aren't really Rockets fans. We had a PG who was exactly what we needed, and then some -- and most of you screamed delightedly when he got traded off the team. And now you're desperately looking for a feeble imitation of him. This reminds me of Churchill's observation: "During their lifetimes, every man and woman will stumble across a great opportunity. Sadly, most of them will simply pick themselves up, dust themselves down and carry on as if nothing ever happened."
Harden was TRADED to Houston. He said he'll sign back with OKC at what he felt he was worth, they low balled, harden bet on himself, OKC couldn't wait. Now they're kicking themselves. And lol melo.
Why would he be Concerned with lower stats? The curry effect where if your the best player in stacked team with more wins gets you mvp. He already tried Being the stack king and finishing with top 4 all nba team only gets u runner up mvp
The man hit his peak already n we clearly saw his play already! Inconsistent and An "apple turnover" question his decision making and would come at a price higher than Joseph imo. We have seen glimpses what he can offer and has more upside imo
There's been many times during games where we have bad entrance post passing and when I would re-watch games DH can clearly have better numbers if we had a legit passing/playmaking PG. Or am I in the minority? Even James missed passes into Dwight or would not have his head up ready to make a play with our BIGs. You got a glimpse into what you can with Dwight just like JSmoove n DH hooked up in that Mav series
I'm assuming this role is the end of the bench, hardly play except because of injuries and blowouts role.
MVP = best player on the team with the most wins. If rockets were the #1 team (11 more wins), then Harden would have been the MVP. Simple as that.
That isn't the definition of the award. Why'd Durant win it last year then? The media defines what the MVP award is based on year to year.
Of course they are. Why do you think teams have veteran guys sitting on the end of the bench? To be a presence in the locker room and on the practice floor. That IS important. If they aren't playing much, you want a guy like Terry that a bunch of the Rockets guys have cited as the one that brings them together as a team.
Denial is not a river in Egypt. We have indeed seen what Lin can do when he's actually allowed to make the plays --- that's when we blow the other team away. A few weeks ago, before the playoffs started, someone noticed astutely that while we had a lot of wins, we rarely dominated. Well, when Lin and Harden were sharing the playmaking duties, we totally dominated some of the best teams in the league, scoring 120+ points per game. This was in late December 2012 / early January 2013. Look it up. There is no doubt that Lin the playmaker would have hugely helped the team. Which is why I am totally certain that if Lin were still here, he would have pushed us over the top against the Dubs. With his combination of scoring, playmaking, and defense, we would have won Games 1 and 2. Having taken both games from the Warriors in their building, we would have dominated the series. Remember what Churchill said? The opportunity we threw away -- to the cheers of most of Clutcfhans -- was the championship. If Lin were here to make the plays, this would have been our year.
Kyle Lowery would be a zone out. that would be something. He can and will stick those sideways 3's in that scenario. and he's a total pest.
Gotta grudgingly agree. If the choice were Lin or Bosh, Lin's gotta go. His contract was way too big for a role player or average starting PG. But in comparison to Jet or Prig, he would have been a godsend without Bev. The offense completely halted when Harden was ineffective, a miraculous game 6 aside. Lin's turnovers and aimless drives drove me crazy, but you take the good with the bad - dude is a decent 3 point shooter, good passer, and can take pressure off Harden and put pressure on the opponent when aggressive. Bottom line: Lin is an average PG at best but he is world's better than Terry (who honestly played out of his mind all things considered) and Prigioni (who was uniformly terrible).
Going into next year, we do not have many pieces to trade with. I only see value with Jones and Dmo. So this means we're going to build through agency signings. I see us getting Kevin Love which would consume half of our salary signing pool. The rest will need to buy the bench and our pg spot. This may include Bev, Smith, CBrew, MJ McD, and JT. My list of pg options are as listed: Bev, JLin, Mo Williams, or C.J. Watson
I don't think Harden wants Lin back...he wants fresh blood....a Jamal Crawford type, Ty Lawson would do and/or obviously someone better but we really don't need another All Star just a playmaker that can drain the outside shot and can handle the ball. Nothing too earth shattering. Deron Williams if he was/is healthy might work as long as he knows he's not gonna be the ultimate hero on the team
Play-making help doesn't have to come from the PG spot, or even the SG spot. A more offensively diverse SF than the Rockets currently have would help. They Rockets may also need to replace Trevor Ariza anyway if they are to make any kind of deal for a big $ player (Ariza is very useful, it's just a matter of cap math that his salary needs to be involved). For example, Mike Dunleavy is a free agent and there is a good chance that he doesn't go back to Chicago. The Bulls need to pay Jimmy Butler and they don't like paying luxury taxes.
