This is a guy who was at the Hooks game tonight... the Hooks are currently touring Arkansas. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Hey <a href="https://twitter.com/JayneWTHB">@JayneWTHB</a> Tony Kemp just got carried off the field after a Travis runner went high on him at 2b. I feel like I haven't heard Kemp's name this year as much as I was last year. Has he been having a down season?

This hits the nail on the head... Unfortunately, Astros brass had Colin Moran rated higher than Bryant.... But Appel still has good stuff. He needs to keep his head in the game and he will be fine. He has gotten this far because he has such good stuff, he hasnt needed to learned the art of pitching. which if you look at Dallas Keuchel, who boasts a 90 mile heater but dons a sub 2 ERA in the majors, is the prime example. Pitching is not just about the stuff. it is also about how pitchers adjust to individual hitters. It is a lot about what is between the ears. Professional baseball players make a living out of hitting fastballs. So a 98 mph isnt going to spook them. i bet Appel is tipping his pitches. he needs to be more deceptive.
One of my good buddies growing up used to work as grounds crew at minute maid. Said that the players would go in the indoor cage, pump a machine up to 115mph and just tee off on it. A good fastball can only get you so far. Need the control and off speed stuff that is going to make a hitter hesitate for that tiniest of moments.
Story on milb.com on Fisher's night. http://www.milb.com/news/article.js...d=127691776&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb Pretty cool quote on Brett Phillips in there: That's a heck of top half of the Lancaster lineup - Phillips-Fisher-Davis-Reed. If JD Davis starts hitting like he's capable, then look out.
4 of his 5 hits in Lancaster are home runs. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Guess who...<a href="https://twitter.com/DeFish23">@DeFish23</a> has hit a three-run homer! Holy crap, Lancaster has put up 20 through 6 innings after last night's 17. Everyone has reached base multiple times except Brett Phillips, who is 0-5 with 3 Ks
