Very true, I mean, we could be run like the 76ers (that's a cluster ****).... And sure I don't like some of the early playoff exits from before, but we're on a big upswing atm, and Les is definitely working on bringing another championship to Houston!

We would have to start a Kickstarter campaign every time we wanted to sign a free agent lol.

How bad do you want Kevin Love rockets fans? Early backers get an autographed arm sling!

If you're Les, and the Rockets don't win it all next year, do you force Morey to fire McHale and make a play for Thibs? That seems awfully risky to me, but high reward if it works.

You also risk alienating Dwight and losing him in FA if you do that... Hmm...

    Interesting times
Les: Take big risks while Morey is advocating for stability.....

the McHale situation is a tricky one as well

Depending a lot on if we get Durant and whomever, even with the superstars Houston has ways to go to play perfect team basketball

I almost want to start this on a thread of its own, but I do wonder if the Rockets do not improve YOY who goes? I mean, the bar seems to now be set on a finals appearance right? I'm also not one to spout "McFail this, Morey the idiot that" but when Les is talking about risks letting go of one or both of them definitely has to be a risk that he might take if we don't improve. Then there's letting a fella or two walk again to go big game hunting. Interesting times we live in indeed.

The point is that Le$ has never taken a big risk, and when he was buying draft picks he was making a ton of money because Yao's salary was covered by insurance.

One year he paid a little tax - but every year we hear how he is willing to spend big, yet actions show otherwise.

He also never fires his coaches, let's their contract expire.

Le$ is cheap - it is simply the truth.

Spending for the sake of spending is stupid. Look at Cubes and CP25. I said this before and I'll say it again, when have we let a player walk that could have changed the outlook for our team just because Les didn't want to spend money? This is an open question.

That had more to do with a player option than the money. Remember, Morey hates player option deals.

Hardly anyone pays luxury tax now, not even Lord Cuban. It handcuffs the team way too much.

i know that was the reason given, but it seemed more like les had pushed him to bring lin back instead for the china $. morey said we don't do player options but then turned around and gave dwight one a couple summers later

The China money is split across the league.

    So, no.

And he only does options for superstars, not for guys like dragic.

Yeah, this is misleading - Le$ has made a ton of deals with China interests because he had Yao and Jeremy that increased his personal fortune.

Goran Dragic is a great example of us letting a guy walk over $$...

Ok, what deals did he get that he couldn't already make with the Yao connection? Post them here.

National TV revenue and merchandise is shared. Local TV and ad revenue is kept, but didn't matter much since Lin pretty much sucked.

Morey himself said it was about Lin the player, not any incremental revenue. If that was the case, then cheap Les (spelled with a dollar sign lol) would have never traded him.

Goran didn't leave over money, he left over a player option. That same player option that totally screwed the Suns and they were forced to trade him.

Yeah exactly. Not exactly worth that much. Good luck with that Miami.
