Back to back complete games for Keuchel. 9 innings, 4 hits (all singles), no runs, 11 Ks. Got a pair of double plays to offset 2 errors by Villar. ERA down to 1.76. Ace.
He posted a positive WAR last year, and is again this year. I don't understand why they have him at 3rd.
Well that is not what the inventors of WAR would want to see then Cause he isn't a guy who helps win Sorry
I disagree. The guy makes too many boneheaded plays, but also has exceptional range & great speed. Today showed he shouldn't be at 3rd base. I don't understand why they put him there with such little expereince at the position.
This was more to do with how abysmal Valbuena has been against lefties over the last few seasons, Villar has actually posted a higher OPS against lefties, and a much higher OPS this season. Naturally Villar made his dumb Villar plays. We really need a legitimate platoon option at 3rd for Valbueana against southpaws, because I honestly don't want to see Villar at all.
I would play Marwin at 3B & Villar at SS when they play together. The alternative is to bring Dominguez back...
I'd rather see a 0 ops guy who can defend the position than Villar Even his hit which helped his OPS today ended up with him jogging into an out I understand advanced stats and their value, so don't take me as a guy who ignores all of that But Villar needs to go, and I don't care what the advanced stats say about him I wouldn't be shocked if he turned into a very good player at some point I want us to win this year though, and he isn't ready to help us do that
I would much rather have Dominguez The offensive difference between him and Villar can't be as much as the defensive advantage Dominguez has
Our electricity went out at the exact moment Kuechel threw that last K. Made me think of lights out Lidge.
I would rather see Matt Duffy than Dominguez. Valbuena has played a lot of SS throughout the minors. He hasn't played it well, but I would be fine with Marwin playing SS every day and Valbuena as the backup until Correa is ready. Duffy (or Dominguez) can start against lefties, and an occasional start at 1st.
