I feel like this same conversation happened about Chandler Parsons with many laughing and scoffing at the idea he would get a max deal as late in the game as the end of the season. LOL Here we are again. I don't know if DMo will get a full max offer or not. It depends on who has max dollars to offer and what other big men are out there, but to simply dismiss the notion is not wise.
yesterday d-mo was a potential all star, one day later he's possibly commanding a max deal? wow, what's up?
Why do u think im a dmo fantard to say that? I like him but thats all im not obssesed with him or smth. Its simply how the new market works. While the big market teams will go after the stars next summer the smaller market teams will tryto sign the young rfa. To get a rfa u must always overpay do as their team will be hardpressed to match esp if its waiting for the decision of a star. Facts: the cap will rise dramatically. The cap floor will rise. Every team will have at least 20 mil in cap space. That money will have to be spent. Every contract signed will lose value esp the max ones. The 16 per max will equal about 12 per in 2 years. Dmo is young can play two positions which give flexibillity to his team amd can playmake which is what the gms are looking for riht now. Nba is a league of trends. Even everyones favourite scapegoat jones will get at least 11 per.
Its the new market reality. I already told u.. the rookie max in 2 years will be 25 per. And thats without the 30% rule..thats the normal max. I wish bima makes a new post about it so the posters here get educated.
i don't see dmo getting the max simply because he is a subpar rebounder for a big man. add to that he's an average outside shooter and passer, and sometimes unreliable freethrow shooter. imo, the great post moves are not enough to convince GM's.
Chandler Parsons never made an all-star team, just got a max deal. Gordon Hayward never made an all-star team, just got a max deal. People don't seem to understand basketball economics.
Actually I could see D-Mo getting a max offer. 2016 will see a lot of teams with a lot of cap space and when some of them run out of big name players to sign, they'll throw money at whomever is still out there they may think has the potential to be really good.
Plan A The Rockets should try their best to get Goran Dragic. Plan B trade Pat Bev, Terrence Jones and the 18th for a higher pick between 8 and 11th. Draft Cameron Payne! And trade him to the Nuggets for Ty Lawson!
dont know about haywad, but parsons was a bad deal for the mavs, at least thus far. yes? and its proven morey did the right thing. i am not familiar with the new rules. didnt tracked them closely in the past, either. but all economics eventually will come down to supply and demand. that much i do know.
When i say educated i dont mean it as an insult. Sorry if u see it that way. This forum didnt have to deal with rfa this offseason so many here havent realised it. In the bucks forum everyone thought that midds will get at most 10 per and thats coz we are a small market team. It took us all by surprise the numbers that started getting thrown around. Its the new basketball economy.
Most contracts end up being bad value for most NBA teams. GMs can't help themselves from overpaying which is why they keep trying to tighten the belt in the CBA negotiations. Every year players are getting max deals that fans whine about. Every year. DMo being one of the best players in the league and getting a max deal on an open market are two separate discussions. They literally have nothing to do with each other.
Morey: "Great idea. Haven't thought about it at all. Let me call them up and get it done today". That was easy.... great original idea there.
i know you didnt mean it as an insult and i certainly didnt take that way. i do need to learn more about the new rules. no problems.
Both sound pretty far fetched and your plan B is ridiculous. Pat Bev + Jones + 18th pick to move up 7-10 spots for a rookie who might not have a immediate impact in our teams window then trade him for Ty Lawson? How is a unproven rookie going to get Ty Lawson but not Bev & Jones who are proven with upside?
good thing they're not ignoring it. its tmac all over again, doing almost all of the ball handling and play making.
