If u think that nothing posted here matters then why the heck u waste ur time reading and responding to it?It looks u are the one without reason afterall.
It takes reason to point out the absurdity of jopats trade proposals. I never said 'nothing posted here matters' so lift up your straw man elsewhere.
Magic are leaning winslow as they should coz vuc and kristaps willbe terrible together and harris is about to leave town. The only possibillity the knicks pass mudiay is wcs notfor anyone else.
You said what ANY poster thinks. You get off ur high horse. If u find posting ideas in a forum pointless u are free to ignore them or not participate to the forum. Because by ur "logic" what YOU post is pointless as well.
I was giving an "upside" case of the offseason moves by moving Ariza, that's just a semi realistic view I saw as "upside". Is it unrealistic to think Ariza + 18 could get us 9 from the Hornets, and could Justice be there around 8/9, I think it is possible. Either way, I was just using Justice as an example since I think he'd be a great Ariza replacement. There's other ways to do it too, draft Booker, sign a SF to MLE, or such.
What is the logic behind trading key pieces of our team, like Ariza, to get draft picks? Yes their are better players than Ariza but just to move up in the draft?
The key to do it would be to open up enough cap room to sign another player, who would be max/close-to-max, and, therefore, a better player than Ariza. So you would end up with max guy (LMA/Love/Gasol type) plus you would have a very talented rookie, instead of status quo of Ariza + 18th overall pick. That'd be the incentive to do it, but yes, it's a riskier approach with the timing issues and risk of rookies.
That was in the article in the Wade thread. So that means we'd likely have to either trade for the Heats pick at 10 or below.
Trade the picks for veteran help along with Jones/ Johnson( if anyone wants him) and Brewer if possible. This draft isn't deep, but I doubt if Jones and the picks can help us move high enough in order to get an impact player. No one wants to give up a potential star in a draft for role players.
I wouldn't, because then you'd be playing Gasol and Dwight next to each other. Which wouldn't work for 35 mpg.
I can't really make sense of this either. If DM is trading for high draft picks, it's probably to turn around and trade those for what he needs, or to create cap space. The Rockets need help... or next year, not for 4 years down the road... unless they have some absurdly easy way to trade into the top 3/4 At this point I'd almost slot Ariza as the second most important player on the team. The ultimate 3&D guy next to Harden, which is so necessary. But Ariza's the one you'd have to trade to create that cap space. For the chance at LMA... or Gasol... No. For the CERTAINTY of LMA, or Love? Perhaps then. But I'm not really in love with a team that is Harden/LMA/Howard but weak everywhere else. Add LMa or Love, and keep Ariza... ok, that's making sense, obviously. Even if you continue to run out Jason Terry and Prigioni... that's still a huge upgrade. But lose Ariza? Your most consistent 3 guy, and most consistent and versatile defender? I don't know man. Plus consider, once bitten, twice shy. You'd ABSOLUTELY have to have CERTAINTY about signing one of the max guys out there.
We can't speak to them in advance of the July Moratorium. Don't know why they'd give us a guarantee without us talking to them. I suppose you could trade Ariza/etc for the rights to a drafted player long after the draft is over and you have an agreement from some FA. But teams usually have unloaded the rookies they want to unload by then.
I've got a good source telling me Magic are leaning towards Kristaps. But let's assume for the moment that Orlando goes with Winslow. They have flat out butchered Mo Harkless' development and that kid has a ton of upside left at age 22. He does an exceptional job defending the 3- point line and is very athletic defending the rim. He's got a better handle than Ariza and he's a better pure shooter than Ariza when given minutes and shots. We may be able to swap Terrence Jones for Harkless and then look for a bigger deal later. Bottom line: If Orlando goes for Kristaps at 5 Then at least one of Winslow/Hezonja is on the board at 8.
Harkless is done as is oquinn. If they wanted to save these projects they shouldnt have hired skiles. Its a given he wont give any of thrm a chance now. And Kristaps with skiles will get doghoused too. At least winslow projects to be a good defender.
There are way too many IF's for this to work. Of course I would love it if it did work but I just don't see this happening and is extremely risky IMO.
... what any poster thinks about HIS trade idea. Geez, it's pretty clear that you lack the requisite reading comprehension to post "high horse" diatribes. Not only that, your lecture on 'high horsing' is comical coming from someone doing exactly that. The irony is quite entertaining, actually. Self-awareness is a beautiful thing.
Yeah I would, as much as I hate to lose Trevor. I was making a point that I had made with him in another thread that Dwight/Gasol together isn't a realistic option
I agree, I was shocked when Clutch brought that up (that he heard Rockets would have interest), I don't see how it would work, you'd have to switch Dwight to a Blake Griffin style PF without a mid range game. Either way, with what's being discussed in this thread, I just think there's a lot of unique ways this team can get better, and that's a credit to Morey always leaving the Rockets in a position to be able to pivot towards the next opportunity he sees is best, something he has done well throughout the years. It may not be involving a FA, it may be trading pieces for an established player we never even though about. It may be solely bringing over Lull and Gentle, and it may work better than anyone expects. But either way, I'm confident that we are in a good position and in good hands. The offseason is always exciting with Morey at the helm, and I doubt this one will be any different.
