This along with McCullers regaining top prospect form help alleviate system concerns that were present when Appel began to struggle again. It's good to be rich!
I think Correa's floor is Andrelton Simmons. Simmons is the best fielding SS in the bigs, however his offense has been average thus far. This would be the worst-case scenario for Correa in my opinion, i.e., he is a stud defensively, but he cannot hit for average, power, doesn't steal bases, etc. Simmons. His ceiling, man who knows. I'd love to say A-rod, but that's not even accurate given A-rod's steroid binge. We really could be dealing with Jeter 2.0, with more power, and less media obsession.

Two more hits tonight for Nottingham, at what point does Luhnow Fast track him? Castro is going to continue to get expensive and Stassi has An OPS around 600 as a 24 year old in AAA, a future backstop needs to be identified unless the plan is commit to Jason long term.
the kid is 20, performing in 35 games at A ball, and didn't do much in 2 years of rookie ball. Slow down. He's not the answer this year, and very likely not the answer next. If he's replacing Castro in 2017, fine...don't need Luhnow to take immediate action to make that happen.

Nottingham is still learning the position, it's very rare to have a HS catcher develop quickly. Next up behind Castro is Roberto Pena at Corpus, good defensive catcher with one of the better arms you'll see, and his bat has been solid so far this year.
Astros sign Yoanis Quiala, a 21-year-old RHP who defected from Cuba. Max Wildstein writes for Scout.com. https://twitter.com/maxwildstein/status/604075200498528258 @MaxWildstein: RHP Yoanis Quiala is a power pitcher. Can hit 96-98 on gun. Not much secondary stuff. Supposedly a smaller deal, per source. #Astros #MLB
Conrad Gregor hit his second HR of the season today after hitting his first HR of the season yesterday. His power's in there; he's just got to unlock it more regularly.
Interesting. Was wondering if this was related to us acquiring more international spending slots, but I suppose not.
A.J. Reed just went deep for Lancaster. The 2-run homer occurred in the 1st inning and is his 12th blast of the year.
The 9 hits Appel allowed were all singles. 5.85 ERA, but a .382 BABIP is biting him. His FIP, for what it's worth, is 4.23. Unlucky, but not great, either. HOWEVER.... a significantly lower strikeout rate (15.8% after being around 20% in 2013 and 2014) coupled with an increased walk rate (9.8%; he walked 6.3% in 2014 and 5.6% in 2013) have really hurt him as well.
