Dwight did his thing, still played his heart out days after the knee injury. He played thru it and didnt give up on himself. Harden kinda checked out last night and didnt try to refocus and play thru it.

Why did our opponents gameplan against Harden but not Howard?

Because they know no matter how dominant Howard can be, he won't win many games for us like Harden does.

Like last night proved, we win or lose on the back of James Harden. Over-dependence that could have been addressed at the trade deadline, but someone values flexibility more.

So if Dwight really was taking shots at Harden, which i really dont think he was, it's understandable given Dwight played thru adversity and Harden happened to not, last night.

Being good in the playoffs is more important than being an MVP runner up in the regular season. Off games are acceptable, letting an off game offensively turn you into a complete no factor in the game is not.

It's funny; when a player is missing shots and keeps shooting, he's a chucker and a bad teammate. When a player is having a bad shooting night and makes more of an effort to involve his teammates, he's quitting on the team.

But Dwight was hovering around 40% for the postseason. That's pathetic even by his usual standards. I don't remember Shaq being THAT bad at the line, especially when they were winning titles.

Dwight was terrific overall in the playoffs. But his troubles at the foul line made him such a liability that McHale was forced on several occasions(including last night) to pull him from the game.

And BTW, this was an issue last season too. Remember how Portland out of desperation went to Hack-a-Dwight in the 4th quarter of Game 1? He bricked 4 free throws, McHale had to sit him on the bench, and the Blazers made up a 10-point deficit in about a minute.

idk if dwight was aiming at harden or any specific players. who cares.

but the notion that "since i am a better player than you are, or since yourself have flaws in your game, so i am immune to criticism" is certainly false.

The only time he seems to go off is against rebuilding teams, Jones definitely needs to be traded while he still has some value.

You dont remember shaq being that bad in the playoffs? Why do you think the Hack-A strategy was born?

Yes, there isn't really any excuse for what Harden did last night. But at the same time what Harden did last night isn't the sum total of what Harden did during the playoffs. We wouldn't have made it to last night without Harden.

Can we change the thread title to read "veiled shots"?

Subliminal tends to indicate he's doing something to influence our subconscious, like briefly holding up a sign that says 13 sucks.

40% bad? Maybe he had one or two postseasons like that. Honestly, I don't remember. But when they were winning titles, I recall him keeping it at least around 50%.

    It's not just you.

Harden's performance last night was embarrassing... again. How much does it suck that there's even a question of our best player's effort, or that his bad performances may overshadow his brilliant ones and how far this team was able to advance despite all the adversity?!

Does anyone think it's possible that Playoff Dwight teaches Playoff Harden how to be Playoff Dwight - or at least regular season Harden?

Yes he did but this team is past the point of just getting there. He has to raise his play when it matters most or he talked about the same way Dirk was before he won.

We don't get to the playoffs without Harden and we don't advance this far without Howard.

A lot of you are stupid and should step away from the keyboard

He does, and Harden has raised his game when it mattered most. He did it in game 4 of this series. At that time, that was when it mattered most, and he had the best playoff game of his career.

The only problem was that last night he couldn't follow it up. I think he just needs to find a way to be consistent. He's only 25, and hasn't been the go-to guy that long.

edit:: we might be close to saying the same thing in different ways. Or maybe not.

They game planned for Howard to. As you can see they didn't allow us to run our PnR play.
