For help at PG. Trade Jones, the 18th pick, future picks, Nick Johnson, anything that's not essential for the Rockets. But get someone who can play that position so we don't have to rely on Beverley or Terry. Jones can easily be replaced. There are tons of players like him in the NBA.
Can't agree more. Sure he shows flashes of being decent AT TIMES, but he also has butterfingers and is soft as **** MOST of the time. He plays like he's 6 feet tall and I've honestly had enough of it.
Smith did come midseason...and at times looks perfect for this team so i would def bring him back Dmo coming off brain surgery would be better then retaining jones Those 2 IMO are good enough , where we should sacrifice all of our cap and assets to get love or aldridge. PG on the other hand is a different story, cannot have terry play 35 min defending the west PGs and then switch to SG when we are on offense...harden needs help, he doesent get one good look on offense without creating it himself unless its a broken play or transition, thats unacceptable
I already posted a very feasible trade idea. To think that Jones has negative value around the league is laughable. Simply..get the 19th from Washington for Jones and trade both the picks to Denver for Lawson. Pierce will opt out and they need a ready to contribute pf.
It is not laughable, he has one thing going for him and thats that hes on a rookie deal...if he nets you the 19th pick you ship him immediately.
You are all letting your dissapointment cloud your vision. Jones has some attributes that can be valuable in another team. Like Wash with a pg genious like Wall. And he already proved he can play in the league even as a starter. whereas a rookie at 19th is more likely a bust than a success. Wash will take it and run. They will do everything to contend next year and try to lure KD.
He is already a bust...and when u say attributes you never elaborate, thats all you say. He has no good attributes to his game except for two things 1.Can switch on D against guards 2.Can dribble...which is pointless since hes a mediocre finisher at the rim
He is not a bust. First he was drafted too low to even be labeled a bust Secondly he is in the league and is 100% going to get an extension. A good extension. That's not a bust and only someone who thought he was going to be a big star can name him a bust. Wall will make Jones shoot better. He will pass the ball in rhythm and Jones will be better. He will be a fine pf and he will play in the east. A trade will also shake him up. Do you know how many young players are shaken by trades during their rookie contracts? all of them. It's a wake up call. lol thank you bigshasta. Yes I am a rockets fan.
He is only 22 - yeah, I am getting tired of saying that, he is what he is....a guy who shows glimpses but has a very low BBall IQ. DD
Thinking Jones can beget pick 19 is laughable. C'mon man. You expect Washington to drop #19 when they're staring at Kevon Looney....for Terrence going into the 4th year of his rookie deal....after watching him become the least rebounding big man in the post season...after watching him shoot 42% in these playoffs....after watching him shoot 15.8% from the 3-point line and finally give up even up-faking because he was only faking out himself when he was open from 3. Look....Washington ain't stoooooopid. You might (I said might) get the Nuggets to take Terrence for #57 because Denver's GM is stoooooopid. But #19.....WILL.NOT.HAPPEN......EVER.
57??? What is Terrence Jones? Landry? Staring at Looney? who says he's at 19. Besides, as I already posted in the Draft forum it's pretty easy even IF he was there and he was their target. Take looney one pick before and blackmail Washington. It has been done before and Morrey's pupil Hinkie used it just this year.
Only for the Suns. But they are hard bargainers. Far chance Miami or Indy if their targets are gone. They need multiple rookie contracts and young prospects for their benches.
One idea that popped into my head is Darren Collison. He had a great year and is on a cheap-ish contract. He's a good creator (6 APG), a blur in transition, decent three-point shooter (37.3%), and a pretty solid defender. On top of that, Sacramento is interested in Lawson. Maybe we use that to pick up a cheaper, younger PG in Collison that could be a great fit with his speed. Not sure how this would play out exactly, but this is just spitballing. It could be restructured to not include #6 pick and have our assets go straight to Denver, but the Kings are going for it this year according to the front office so I'd expect that's a pretty decent haul. (Dropping a dead weight contract and getting younger/more athletic at the 4 is pretty huge for them too). Denver in: #6 pick, Kostas, Dorsey, Carl Landry or Jason Thompson Houston in: Darren Collison Sacramento in: Ty Lawson, Terrence Jones, #18 pick, #32 pick, Maybe Nick Johnson? Thoughts? (We could take on Landry/Thompson as well, but probably better to not take on that bad contract when it means nothing to a rebuilding Denver team that could use veteran leadership)
I like Collison. However that's a big overpay by Houston. If the Rockets had some bad long contracts it would be better but they dn't have to send much negative value to Denver.
