As much as I hate Curry, he's proving that you don't have to be very big or athletic to be a great PG. Tyus would be by far my 1st choice if we keep the pick.
Curry is listed at 6'3". He's not short for PG if he's true in height. Aaron Brooks was listed at 6'0" but we all know that's a stretch
lol he's not 6'3 Maybe with high heels. I make him around 6'1. But what Curry has that Tyus Jones unfortunately does not have is a very elite skill :shooting which he had shown to have from his draft. I think he also is more quick than Tyus. In the combine Tyus was one of the five slowest players in lane agility. All the others were 6'11 - 7'0 centers.
I would love Tyus Jones here in Houston. I am a big Duke fan and watched a lot of his games. I am not a scouting expert by any means, but I really like his game and I think it could transfer well into the league. He is very good at running an offense and he is one of those guy that just has "it" when it comes to leadership. He has qualities that could help this team in a lot of ways and then once he gets some time on the court and develops his skills, he can become a really good point guard for this team.
people are going to believe what they wanna believe. he looks every bit the 6'3" in shoes (that all nba players height is listed by).
ok..didn't know his combine number. There you have it then. Smaller than Curry much slower and without the handles and shooting. I can't see any comparisons can be made between the two.
Jones is underweight, he's not undersized. 1-2 years with strength and conditioning coaches and he will be a perfectly sized PG - He's not a long defender but his on ball defense is decent, his quickness makes up for some poor defensive qualities. While his defense will likely never be superb, it's his shooting ability and creativity that I absolutely love. I think he will be a very good player in the NBA. However, unlike some of the Guards in the Draft, he's a couple years away from really contributing, which, unless Morey gets a commitment from Llull, will probably scare us away from TJ.
This kid is a winner. Hope he is still their on the board for us. Have a gut feeling Tyus will be the player someone reaches for in this draft.
Per NBAdraft, Curry had a 29.5 inch no-step vertical and 35.5 inch with step vertical. Compared to say Westbrook at 30 feet and 36 feet respectively. Add in his incredible hand-eye coordination, and I'd say Curry more than holds his own athletically.
That's incredible stuff. I'd be satisfied if I had just a one foot vertical, but 36 feet.......that's something special.
