I have applied to many engineering jobs but to no success. I only have 2 years of experience. Plus, the field I'm in isn't that great in terms of carrying over to an engineering office job as opposed to being in an environment i am in now... Loud machines. I'm in material sciences type engineering.

That's the thing... If my goal is to become a project manager and i can achieve that through business analyst also, why not go that route?

But seriously, it takes guts to jump careers. I just think the benefits are blunted if the motivation is money rather than self fulfillment

Stop using Indeed. Get to some happy hours with decent industry associations and find out who the solid nationwide headhunters are for your field. Never put your career in the hands of glorified car-salesmen, brain-dead paper-pushers or some manager (or firm) who either can't retain good people or isn't important (or stable) enough to get the budget for them.

Also I think situations like this are why tuition reimbursement exists. Go find a top-shelf online engineering program and get a Masters in Engineering Management, and take the scenic route and do one or two courses a semester. Otherwise take the GMAT, see how good an MBA program you can get into and then pick the ones that have interdisciplinary degrees with their Engineering School.

Going to school part-time will be easier because you have a good paying job that you've been at long enough to efficiently complete in an eight-hour day, and still get Tuesday and Thursday afternoons off for a weekly lectures or the semi-quarterly proctored exam. In some industries and job markets, BA gigs are for English majors with good listening and planning skills.
