Yeah, Canaan pretty much sucks at everything except shooting. When he struggles with that he is pathetic. Every now and then coaches know what they are doing.
Is it too late to sign the petition? He's not good on defense but neither are our current options either. And he had potential unlike grandpa Terry and grandpa Pringles who probably won't be on the roster next year. Really dumb for McHale to not give him an opportunity to play.
We're still b****ing about Isaiah Canaan? Come on now. Sure Terry & Prigioni aren't the answers. Neither is Isaiah Canaan.
I don't think we'd even beat GSW with Paul or Westbrook at PG, but at least it would've been nice to see Canaan mature as a player. If he doesn't cut it, then Morey could dump him in the offseason. We never gave him a fair chance after his injury.
Yes... the guy who got beat out AGAIN by Ish Smith in Philly. McHale was so wrong. Canaan was a good specialist if he would have conformed to that role as a spot up shooter, and defender. However he wanted to take pull up 1 on 4 threes all game long, and didn't want to learn NBA defense. The Rockets have to get creative this offseason with the PG spot. I like his defensive potential but Nick Johnson probably isn't the answer either.
We definitely could have used his offense. Warriors are basically boxing Harden and daring somebody else to beat them from outside.
Until Canaan learns how to beat his man off the dribble, and get to the rim, he's going to continue to be very easy to defend against in the NBA. He shot really well when he was open, and the ball found him in rhythm, but so would have Troy Daniels. Terry should be reliable in those situations as well but has been a dissapointment shooting the ball at least (leadership & other intangibles have been great though). There really is no easy answer for the PG spot. There is alot of suggestions, but pretty much all possibilities leaves the Rockets with some weakness that can be exploited. We should probably move on from Canaan por favor. It was a nice low risk pick for a 2nd rounder, but ultimately he's not the guy.
Canaan's spot-up marksmanship would have definitely helped our offense tonight. The Warriors are boxing Harden and daring somebody else to beat them.
