I hope Mchale puts out the prigioni-harden-brewer-ariza-capela lineup to combat the warriors small ball lineup.

that's what really exiting about capela. he has the speed and agility to guard 4's.

I like the idea. Also, Prigs and Capela make good P&N.

I don't get why Capela is compared to Mutombo. They are very different player. Mutombo was a hard nose physical defender-rebounder-shot blocker with little offensive ability. Capela doesn't seem to have Mutombo's mean physicality but has much more potential on the offensive end.

I actually like the Garnett comparison although I hate Garnett's personality.

I've seen him compared to Serge, Deke, Tyson Chandler, Kevin Garnett....and that's only in the past few pages.

While he's flashed some potential in his very brief time on the floor, let's slow our roll a little bit.

Another Morey find. High ceiling. Get that kid in the gym with dream.

Quick feet, great athleticism, and great hand eye coordination. He can catch the ball on the move in traffic, play great defense, and he has a nice touch around the rim. If he ever develops a jump shot, watch out.

I think Tyson Chandler is fair. He's a little shorter but otherwise I could see it. Sure, it's a bit of a reach because Tyson averaged 9 points and 7 rebs when he was 20, but that was on a 30-win team. Capela could probably have matched that if he were given 25 mpg on a 30-win team.

People are just (understandably) excited and Capela is so raw that the comparisons will be hit or miss. We really don't know what he is right now.

Give it time and we can all look back at this thread and laugh...while watching Capela in the all star game ;)

I'm not sure how you compare a guy who has never made a shot outside of 5 feet to Kevin Garnett.

Garnett was very raw his rookie year. I can't remember how developed his offensive game was at the time(not much, if I recall), but I do remember that he didn't do much earlier in the year but then started to really come into his own later in the season when he got more playing time after the T'Wolves dealt Laettner. In his second year was when he took huge steps toward becoming a star offensively.

If Capela winds up being another Tyson Chandler, that's great. Chandler was the #2 pick in the draft in 2001. And personally, I think Capela will end up having a better offensive game than Chandler ever did(not that that's saying much).

Don't have rookie stats, but his second year when he was 20 he shot 43% outside of 16 feet on 255 shots. Garnett did take 28 3's as a rookie.

By his 2nd season, his postup game had grown by leaps and bounds. So had he, I believe. I think he went from 6'11" his rookie year to 7'1" the next year. Tom Gugliotta had been acquired by Minnesota and was more of an outside shooting PF, so KG went into the post a lot more when they played together.

I'd be stunned if Capela wound up being that good. But the Tyson Chandler comparisons are reasonable provided he bulks up.

Rockets got a steal with this guy.

He's getting some great big game experience this playoff as well.

Add a few pounds and Dream's tutelage.... and sky's the limit.

    Rockets future is bright

Garnett made a mid range jump shot on his NBA debut. I am not saying he wasn't raw, but his skill set was that of a 4/3 with ball handling skills. Capela is a 5, it will be interesting if he can become a KG type of defender, while becoming a Tyson Chandler plus on offense.

There is no way next year these 5 guys are on this team: Howard, Smith, Jones, DMO, Capela. What do we do if Smith resigns? Can't go with them all into the regular season, need to make preseason trade, right?

All that means is the Rockets can afford to most likely give Howard a good chunk of the season off again which I'm totally fine with.

Also D-Mo had back surgery. I probably wouldn't count on him being ready on day 1. Might take half a season to get back in the swing of things.

I like the idea of 5 good bigs next year. Most likely at least 1 guy will be out at all times.
