The "who is more likely to be traded" conversation makes little sense. Neither will be traded anytime soon. Have there been discussions of unrest?

If the Hawks somehow win the championship (i'd faint) who knows what will happen? The coach could brainwash them.

Oh sorry I didn't say that Teague will be traded. I just meant that Shroeder ain't not walking through that door. But depending on Shroeder Teague could be made available. In the future.
No discussions of unrest that I'm aware of. But Ferry won't sit on his eggs for long. If he finds a good deal that can make the team better he will trade him before he expires and walks.

agreed. tyus jones just doesn't do it for me. his body and lack of footspeed doesn't bode well for the nba. think kendall marshall. he has elite passing skills, but can't physically compete in the nba consistently. i see the same in tyus jones, intangibles and all. at best, he's a 10-15 min backup PG in the nba.

grant, otoh, has very good athleticism and size at pg. the fact that he's a 4-yr guy in college should help him be able to contribute mentally and physically as a rookie.

How can they not re-sign Brewer? Are they not willing to offer him 5-6 mil/yr or are they afraid someone else will make a crazy offer of 7-8 mil like Ariza's getting? He's gotta come back. He was key in both the Mavs and Clippers series.

If they're planning to draft a PG with the NOP pick, it sounds like they're looking to bring back this core next year. Which I'm actually ok with. I was thinking about it earlier, and if you return with this roster that was good enough to win the Southwest Division and make the WCF(and maybe more depending on how this series plays out) and then add a healthy Bev and D-Mo, plus draft a PG, plus have Dwight healthier next year, plus have a more developed Capela, and either a healthy T-Jones all season or someone else you traded him for.....that's a helluva deep roster.

We'd either need that PG to be our 2nd playmaker to take pressure off of James(which is asking a lot of a rookie) or deal T-Jones for someone who can fill that role, but if that happens and everyone can finally stay healthy, that's a legit title contender. And then there's always the 2016 offseason to add that 3rd superstar.....

Interesting that two major items changed from recent Cyberx post-

-Josh Smith re-signing more likely (apparently team was assuming he was gone a week ago)
-Sergio Llull surely not coming over (a couple weeks ago he was "penciled in" as the Rockets starter next year)

It probably just goes to show you that agents and people in the business talk alot and even the people closest to the situation still don't know until something happens.

With Josh Smith, and Brewer we really wont know what likelihood they have of returning until the market opens and we see what the offers look like. I'm sure both guys want to return, and Morey has ways of bringing both back (and giving an offer to Llull), but we just don't know what they are going to take until we get other offers from other teams.

Since the Rockets are currently in the WCF, I'm almost positive the players are thinking about that yet, and I'm sure even slimy agents are smart enough to not bother their clients with rumblings about offers coming from other teams.

All reports coming from Europe media guys were that obviously Morey's talks with both Gentile and Llull and their agents were positive, and it sounds like Morey will work to bring one or both guys over. Is it likely... well no. It never is likely that a high profile/well paid Euro player takes a risk on coming over to the NBA. But we know after Morey takes care of the Smith/Brewer situation on the first week of July, he's going to be working with both Gentile and Llulls agents to see what they can make work.

If the Rockets come at Llull with the full MLE, and a guaranteed role as either starter or primary backup, I think he'd be hard pressed to turn that down FYI. That's a good deal for Llull if he ever thinks he ever wants to come over.

Thanks for the update Cyberx. Just trying to talk through what these reports mean right now... which I'm sure you'd agree is what it is. Just got to wait until that week before the draft for anything to really start to happen as it relates to the draft, trades, and free agency.

Tyus jones would fit right in here. Think terry and prigs but much younger and way better playmaking. Think AB but way better bbIQ and feel for the game. I think this kid would be a steal and I think morey already has eyes on the kid. If by any means Teague becomes available he should be a top target and is on a very good contract.

The news on Brewer is strange since we have his bird rights and can offer whatever to keep him + more years. His future isn't dependant on what we do with the MLE at all. So it's not like we have to choose between Smith and Brewer. The only reason the FO is concerned about keeping Brewer is if they don't think they can keep him for the price he'll want (i.e. he'll get offered more in UFA than they're willing to match or beat). I can't imagine not wanting to keep him given how he's performed for us, how long DM's been after him, and the fact that we gave up 2 2nds to get him.

There are only 2 reasons I could imagine not keeping Brewer. First, he gets some crazy offer of 8+ mil/yr from another desperate team. You would think that wouldn't happen(the guy can't shoot and is not starter material on a contending team), but then again who ever thought Chandler Parsons would get 15 1/2 mil a year? Second is if the Rockets decide they don't wanna commit potentially 6+ mil/yr in salary and cap space to the guy with the 2016 offseason looming.

If the former happens, so be it. It sucks, but you can't do anything about the stupidity of other front offices. If it's the latter, I'll be really PO'd. You have a team that makes it all the way to the WCF, you better retain your key players and try to add another piece or two to get over the hump and win a title. Don't take a step forward and then two steps back.

How low does Rondo's salary have to be before the Rockets are interested? I just don't see who gives him the big $$ he wants.

I don't know about the salary amount, but the temperature in hell would have to be 0 °C.

No way does a Western Conference and potential championship team sabotage team chemistry by bringing that known cancer into our locker room. We saw what he did in Dallas first-hand.

Perhaps they will use the MLE on Josh and KJ, and let Brewer walk. KJ gets Brewer's minutes next year. Brewer's probably salary may be an impediment to signing Durant next summer. If we sign Durant, then Ariza can become the 2-3 defensive stopper off the bench.

I didn't even think of that possibility but yeah I'd be supremely disspointed if that were the angle. Being so close to title contention there's no need to hold out for what might be a homerun when all you need is to get on base.
