Talked to some people.. Rockets actually optimistic on Smith despite what I previously said.. More worried about Brew, but they both are in love with the coach. Sergio doesn't even look likely, he's so happy over there and will cost too much. Bev may be back and cheaper with injury. All I got. Sorry, no Dwight news.
No offense to cyberx, but I think that's exactly what every Rockets fan thought. Smith is more likely to return than Brewer. Sergio was using a potential interest to drive up his value. Beverley's injury will decrease his value. I don't think Bev will be back regardless of the injury. He's still likely to be overpaid by the Mavs. Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if the Thunder or Bulls got involved. I don't care about the 2016 roster until we're done. Screw our free agent plans.
Not a surprise considering there is a possibility we lose Prigs, Jet, and Bev all in one go this offseason. One to retirement, one to retirement/other team, and the last to another team. Yikes. Gotta hope Terry resigns for vet minimum, Prigs delays his retirement, and Bev gets resigned back for cheap. Nick Johnson ain't ready; probably be traded before he gets significant minutes to be honest.
Would rather resign Smith than Brew to be honest (if I had to pick one). Get McDaniels back on a good deal, let him develop and play that role... he will be really good for us if we are able to keep him.
The Rockets might actually have to promise Smith a starting role this time around now he's earnt it. If Llull isn't available, then try to throw Jones in some 3 team package for Schroeder? 'Cause Hawks don't need him.
More likely to trade Teague than Shroeder. He's 21 on a rookie deal and has produced in a major role in the playoffs. They are grooming him to be their pg of the future. Ferry isn't stupid. I think Payne and Grant will go lottery so time to get accustomed with Tyus Jones.
Absolutely not. I don't see Teague leaving the team anytime soon. Teague is a better player than Schroder statistically (advanced stats such as PER particularly) but also brings leadership to the team. The Hawks have the Spurs type of leverage in that Teague excels in their current system. Schroder has had a [very] slightly better playoffs than Teague in limited minutes. He has the potential to surpass Teague in terms of talent if he improves his leadership, which will take years, and 3-point shooting. Who's to say if the Hawks are a team that retains its system players (Spurs) or produces overpaid players (Kansas?/Need NBA comparison besides Rockets w/ Parsons).
Well, you can take the BPA approach and still favor certain positions or certain skillsets. Especially since the Rockets want to win now, they may sacrifice some of future upside for contributions now. Just like they took Capella more as a stash more than him being BPA. I don't think the Rockets will certainly take a PG, but with similar players on the board they probably take the PG. It also doesn't hurt that PG is the most abundant position and one that will most likely drop on draft day.
Absolutely yes. Do you understand that Shroeder is 21 and a sophomore? It's ridiculous to compare him with a vet like Teague who was an all star to boot. Meanwhile Teague doesn't have many more years in his deal is much older and very soon will be paid much more than the 8 mil per? Ferry has targeted Shroeder. He hid him from the other teams , he told his agents to skip the combine and refuse to do private workout for other teams predraft. And now he has come out to prove Ferry right with his extraordinary progress. They will not let him walk away for a 18th pick. That's ridiculous. I only know this because he did the same with Giannis. He targeted both of them and the Bucks were lucky to spoil his plans. Danny Ferry is a fox who won't be taken advantage of in any deal. And he scouts very very well. Forget getting Shroeder.
