We need the defense only Dwight that was spoken of in the regular season. Dwight can start but needs to swallow his pride and be Capela's backup if his knee isn't 100%.
I don't think it's a case of Fegan being overly cautious with a minor injury. I think Dwights mindset was to try to play at all costs, and Dan just reminded him of the business side of this, so he wouldn't risk his career.

He did have one of the best backups available last year. I'd rather have Capela over Asik any day of the week though especially against the Warriors.
I think our guys are gonna be in good shape if Howard doesn't play. We were still competitive in the West without him in the lineup. From the interviews, these guys sound fired up and ready to do anything to win. They have come too far to make excuses.
Pretty sure Morey got a little lucky there, at least in the short term. If he'd had his way, Capela would be playing in Elan Chalon right now. Good thing Clint and his agent were persistent.
But then we would have a better Capela for 4 years instead of a nonexistant one in his first year. He played 80 minutes in the regular season and burned a year of cheap labor. That isn't how Morey rolls.
I'd argue that a season in RGV, getting to learn the system, practice intermittently with the team and getting comfortable with our guys >> another season w/ Elan Chalon, for overall development purposes. But that's precisely my point -- it isn't ordinarily how Morey rolls, but I'd say it worked out in our favor this time.
If it is just a sprain and he can't injure it by playing on it, then he should lace it up and go. But if he can't play all out or is going to baby it, we are better playing Clint and letting him learn on the fly - we have nothing to lose, GS is the favorite any way. Maybe sit Dwight game 2 anyway and hope to get him at home? Dunno. Will be interesting, Dwight's image is on the line a bit here. DD
Yao has some eligibility left, right? I mean Yao could go for 4 weeks of basketball..... And he can shoot FTs too. DM - give Yao a call. DD
