I expect the emergence of the newest villain, I'll spoiler it just in case no one knows about the connection and wants to be surprised. Spoiler We know from the comics that at some point Caitlin Snow becomes Killer Frost....I think they've already planted the seeds for that to happen, so I could see it being something that would come up in a finale potentially.
I think kicking Eddie's power was the purpose of the reactor power up. I think it will be the . ... got back in time and make everything worse senario Rocket River
How did Cisco know the reactor power source thing would go off in 36 hours? He mentioned that he didn't know anything about Wells' tech. He goes back in time to 'save' his mom. I'll give Flash writers the benefit of the doubt. They've produced two or three season-finale quality episodes already, so I guess it's hard to top those.
My Question is . . . . .. how did they turn it off? I might have missed it. I am good with The Flash. I expect it to be good but just not sure . . . . if ti will be Epic. I too expected more from this fight as well Rocket River
A little spoilery tidbit about tonights episode plus some new info about what is in store for season 2. Spoiler and
I would think if he runs fast enough to stop the blackhole, which he will do, he said he had to run it in reverse. So there you have it. This is where the Reverse Flash gets created. As for Thon, we know he's headed to the future, dead. I think the helmet goes with him. And someone is going to find that helmet and the dead body and starts putting things together. It won't be bad thon because he thought grandpa thon was a nobody. So someone else will discover the helmet and body. I think they are hitting on the idea that the future cannot change. It plays out exactly as it was supposed to. And that means there's no way Reverse flash is done. Because he has to exist in the future. That's about all I got. Now as to why and how future Flash would warn young Flash to do nothing, you can only think that he knows something which I cannot put a finger on. My only guess here is that he realizes that the Flash is more important to the world and people than saving his mother.
I really enjoyed the episode. Even though I wasnt a big eddie fan, his death was moving and shocking. Loved Barry's scene with his mother as well as his scenes with Joe and his dad. Still not a fan of Iris however. But a few minor nitpicks I cant help but wonder about: First why did Barry and the others even bothered to let dangerous ass Thon out of his cage and build him that bubble to return to the future, AFTER he already told them everything. Second, barry's decision to save his mother was pretty stupid, due not only to the enormous risks, but also because of how minute his chance for success was. I mean how the hell did he expect to be able to beat/stop thon and save his mother AND return in under 1:52 seconds when current Barry has been getting his ass kicked by Thon everytime. Lastly instead of running fast enough to stop the black hole, why didn't he just try reversing time like he did during the giant tsunami.
season 1 was ok but i think the show will go downhill from here. I detest time travel in story telling. Its such a crutch for ****ty writers. Time travel should be used as a means to set up an interesting dilemma to be solved (example: Marty McFly must get his parents to fall in love in the 1950s). It should not be used to resolve a dilemma (example: last 2-3 seasons of Dr. Who). I have little confidence the show will get it right.
If you watch the Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (or read the limited series), Barry inadvertently creates a dystopian future where he destroys EVERYTHING by saving his mother. The Reverse Flash also figures into the story which is actually quite well done.
I literally jumped out of my seat when the screen faded to black after he ran into the black hole. Neat twist on the cliffhanger: not resolving something mid-action, versus introducing a new character / plot like usual cliffhangers. I don't think he said he had to run it in reverse; I think he said that the black hole was the opposite of the tornado / hurricane we saw, in the plot (black hole = upside tornado, if you will.) What was the deal with the winged helmet? When it came out of the wormhole, Thawne looked legit worried. I thought a new hero was going to pop out and stop the whole thing from happening, or something. Eddie Thawne is still dead, so even if his body goes back to Eobard's time, Eobard still won't exist. I'm thinking Eddie's body goes to another timeline, which would set up some interesting storylines. To your first point: That's a really good question, especially since Barry was already in wormhole when Thawne started to make his journey back. There was no reason to let Thawne go. To your second: It's his mom, man! It's hard to follow the idea of "needs of many > needs of few" when it comes to a family member. Also, he didn't need to beat nor stop Thawne - all he had to do was get Nora out of there. Finally, to your third: I believe the reversing time episode we saw earlier in the season, happened completely by accident. If Barry knew what to do, they would have spent the rest of the season trying to replicate the process. The thing is, they already messed around with time travel, earlier in the season. But also, they're not going to be time-traveling next season. They're going to introduce the concept of multiple dimensions, as pointed out in rcoleman15's spoiler'd post.
Here's the deal: The winged helmet belongs to the Flash...of earth 2. Remember, we're talking a hero (Barry) who not only can time travel with his speed but is also able to 'vibrate at different frequencies'. As such, he'll be able to access parallel words (hence the designation "earth 2"). It's a lot to take in but Barry is an incredibly powerful hero... Now how the helmet fits in to story is anybody's guess, but it was a nice Easter egg of sorts.
Thawne probably had been to earth 2 and seeing the winged helmet made him think that Jason Garrick might show up and stop him....meaning he needed to get out of there in a hurry.
The Time Paradoxes were too great. They say next season won't be reset but how can it not? No Eddie = No Eobard = No traveling back in time and killing Barry's mom = No killing of Harrison = No creation of the Blast that made the Flash And No Flash means no Eddie killing himself to save everyone  Rocket River
