Face it, folks, the Clippers are just better at NBA than the Rockets are

The Clippers were the better team but the Rockets grew and surpassed them as the series evolved.

Greatness is measured by the wins you're not supposed win, not by beating opponents you're supposed to beat.

The Rockets are travelling on a journey to greatness. They are still far from it. They deserve no respect as opponents against the Warriors. Neither should they shouldn't expect it, but keep on striving for it.

Grunch (maybe a semi-grunch, but I really haven't read through this thread lately). Not that he needs the defense, but Kwame is a hardcore Rockets fan living in Vegas. He's a degen gambler too so he tries to keep his emotions out of it, but geez, some of y'all are pretty ridiculous for grilling him if only for not being an outspoken cheerleader. So what if he doesn't think exactly like you do? I was listening on the radio during my lunch break today because I'm getting hyped up for the game we got like numerous calls on 790 grilling the hosts for not being cheerleaders, and the host admitted they want to be wrong, but are just giving genuine opinions. So what if not everyone here is the same type of cheerleader? Jeebus. Kwame has hosted probably over 20 clutchfans during multiple summer leagues and absolutely roots for their wins. I haven't been to one yet, but I know Rocket diehards like Rocketgirl and tons of others from this board have benefited from his generosity and Rocket fandom. He is a long-time hardcore fan. I can't believe there's so much arguing over justifying different types of fans. No one will kill my vibe! Rockets are back in the WCFs!

    Good for real life Kwame.

Internet Kwame acts like a b****.

You don't want to be treated like one, don't act like one.

Are the Clippers better than the Rockets now with the addition of Pierce and Josh Smith to the Clips and the subtraction of Smith from the Rockets?

Likely yes. But the Rockets do have more younger guys who have a better chance of "stepping up" and some of the Clips' vets are at the age where they might experience a sudden decline. Beverley could get healthy and return to the 2013-14 form, DMo and Jones and Capela can get better, and hopefully at least one of Johnson, Dekker, Harrell and Alan Williams become the superstar that they should be.

The clippers got better than us with those additional, especially getting the turth now. Look what he did for a averge Washington team. If they were in the west I don't think they would even be better than the Sus.

We beat the Clippers without Pat or Donatas so if you're going to add Pierce and Smith to them (and subtract Smith from us) I think it's proper to "add" D-Mo and Beverley too. Along with our other signings. They were at full strength in that series. We weren't.

I love Josh Smith but when he was here we had 2/3 of the 3 most hackable guys in the league. We don't anymore. Now the Clippers do.

Great point about our young guys.

Great point about the hack-a-strategy. Doc probably won't hesitate to pull Josh as soon as he see's the free throws being missed.
And then I'm sure Smith will eventually become unhappy with his playing time and turn back to Detroit Smoove. I'm thinking that before too long Smith and Doc relationship will turn into Doc and Rondo.

Strong personalities not agreeing on pt.

You have zero...no, negative credibility here.

    On May 6 you wrote:

and of course that one team you referred to was the Clippers, who subsequently collapsed, choked in the series.

Zero accountability for past statements = zero credibility for current ones.

Usually it's the more talented team that "chokes" - you are ironically validating his claim that the Clippers were the better team. Otherwise, it would have just been the Rockets winning on talent and nothing more.

We don't own the clippers, but no doubt we're a very good team. So are they. So is GS. So is SA. Those are the 3 teams the media will say is above us, and there's a legit case for that.

Will our guys improve? Will Harden be even better? Will Dwight be healthier and shot 65% from the ft line (probably not but there is always dreaming). Will we find another gem out of the magic hat of players?

I don't know. Even if everything breaks our way we may not be good enough to beat those teams. We have a declining power center, the best 2 guard (offensively), and a great group of role players.

How does that stack up against Jordan-Blake-CP? Not very great to be honest.

    We're still debating this, eh?

Looks like heart and desire mattered.

One thing I wonder about the Clippers. CP3 demands the ball. Guys like Josh Smith and Lance Stevenson love to handle the ball. Pierce is a ball stopper.

Doc Rivers has some coaching to do to mix in those players into his system where it does not disrupt a CP3 driven offense. Don't overlook that aspect.

this is a good point that could pose a problem over the course of the season. however, it's a problem i'd prefer to have over our situation of relying on just one guy to make it all happen on offense in harden.

You should be spending the offseason quantifying the affects of heart and desire so you don't make anymore threads that come off foolish. 94-95 Rockets is a good place to start m8.

What if we also add Chris Paul for Game 2? What if we make him 100% for the other games?

Haha I can't believe people are still arguing if the Clippers were better than the Rockets.

People that take snapshots in July and draw huge conclusions do not understand NBA basketball. This team is far from set.
