Face it, folks, the Clippers are just better at NBA than the Rockets are

So if the better team always wins the series, what do you consider the Portland series last year?

Better teams find ways to win...

The Rockets found a way to win. We might have even finished with 3 or 4 more wins in the regular season had Brewer, Smith and Jones played from the beginning. And even without half our rotation through a chunk of the season, we still finished with an equal record as them.

The "at their best" argument is flawed when you consider the Rockets were pretty much at their worst in games 1, 3 & 4. So, the Clippers "at their best" had the luxury of playing the Rockets at their worst. Whereas the Clippers were making a pretty nice comeback in game 7 but still lost, by double digits.

There will probably be another Rockets-Clippers series about a year from now. The Rockets will win that series as well because they are the better team.

The problem with posters like you is that you ignore anything that doesn't fit into your preconceived notions. You, b-bob, justyanks, samfisher, etc... just focus on critical analysis while disregarding everything else so you can paint others as being miserable, sad, pathetic haters as a way to prop yourselves up as "true" fans. It doesn't matter to me that you want to continue arguing on behalf of a nonexistent narrative to make yourself sleep better at night. I would comment on the kind of posters you guys are, but honestly nothing that you, bbob, justyanks, and samfisher have ever said basketball wise sticks out in my mind as worthwhile.

You and all those others I mentioned suffer from

Thanks for the kind words dandork. Aren't you a raging alcoholic like samfisher? You can get help for that. I would hate to see either of you put your lives or the lives of others in jeopardy as a result of alcohol induced irresponsibility.

Dude ... we're focused on the ACTUAL GAME RESULTS from the only 3 games of the series that had the potential to decide anything ... and also happen to be the 3 most recent games either team has played at the moment ... and all happened to be dominated by an emerging powerhouse as it crushed the life from the throat of an opponent and emerged as the victorious, clearly superior team

You contradicted your own first line from above even as you wrote it
You're ignoring ACTUAL GAME RESULTS in favor of maintaining a perception of both teams that has been proven false with real, tangible evidence ... not personal opinions or 'gut feelings'

Even worse, you perpetuate this national myth that gives the Rockets no credit for their successes while simultaneously excusing the Clippers for every failure that directly led to the final outcome

"Clips are better" is already an extinct argument ....
Unless, of course, you insist on pretending Games 1-4 took place in 'reality' (where the Clippers are still better) while Games 5-7 existed in an 'alternate universe' (where the Rockets are now better)

Your upcoming NBA Playoff calendar should clear up for you which group of us is living in The Matrix, and which of us is here in The Realm of the Real ... if you're still confused

Does it make me negative to think the rockets are going to give gsw a run for their money? Did it make me negative to think the rockets would come out strong in game 5? Did it make me negative to think it was insulting that rockets were underdogs in game 7 on their home court after momentum had clearly shifted? This is the problem with posters like you. You disregard anything that doesn't fit into your preconceived notions in order to put forth a nonexistent narrative against somebody else while propping yourself up as some kind of "real" fan. The world is not black and white no matter how much you'd like it to be. Things are complex and multidimensional. A simplistic discourse doesn't have much value.

I have to agree. They float their misery around and call it critique. No, if you have some critical analysis, find McHale's email address. And saying things like "Rockets are done" or "even if they win this one, they'll lose the next game" is NOT critical analysis, not by far. Posting your misery on a fan forum only does 2 things (none of which involves the actual team) 1. spreads the misery around, and 2. comforts other miserable members.

I welcome constructive criticism, it helps, as a fan, understand this team and what it needs. McHale needs more defensive plays, Harden needs to be more aggressive, Howard needs to learn some post moves, learn free throws, lift more weights, stop being so old.

Either that or: this team is done and you'll be better off when you accept that. They can't win. The other team is better. It's inevitable. Shifty eyes.

I couldn't read the whole wall of text, just can't really understand how someone so intelligent as Will extends wastes so much energy on defending Van Gundier.

But I like the last bit, the one I quoted!

Wow, I didn't have any opinion of you as a poster at ALL before that one. That was shameful. I don't know SamFisher to be a big drinker. I am an alcoholic and I don't drink anymore. I did a lot of damage when I did (even here) and I'm glad I was able to stop. I needed to. But what drinking or drinkers have to do with basketball, the Rockets, or the GARM is completely beyond me.

You were losing the debate so you went to a completely invented personal attack, one with no basis in reality (about either poster). That was a horrible post.

And you said no team could win a title with Shane battier. Player evaluation has nothing to do with whether you are trolling clutchfans.

I've admitted to being wrong about josh smith. I root for the rockets, Me being wrong doesn't bother me at all when it is a positive for the rockets.

Now you admit to being wrong about this team mmmkay?

I cannot explain how hilarious this is coming from you - the eternal homer - who actually picked that Clippers to win 6 games and is now talking about holding people accountable. You can't make this stuff up, lol:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=10589

It was definitely a low blow, but I think an exception can be made for these two individuals for all their trolling. Samfisher admitted earlier in this thread or another one that he was too drunk last night and still hungover today, which explains his aggressive posts. Dandorotik has posted some of the most profanity laced posts I've ever seen on ClutchFans out of nowhere against me because he didn't like my basketball commentary. The tone and style along with the time and hostile nature of his posts led me to believe he was drunk as well. I can provide you with examples if you'd like. It's interesting, however, that people don't have a problem with either of these posters cussing at me.

How come these are the only moments you mention my name or I ever hear from you? Your problem is that you only see what you want to see. You're a victim of confirmation bias. You solely notice what you perceive as negative and unnecessarily critical while ignoring everything else, because you can't reconcile it with the preconceived notions and non-existent narrative that you've created to try and elevate yourself.

Where were you when I said the Rockets would beat Dallas? Where were you when I said I was satisfied with the results for this season? Where were you when I was one of the few people to say the Clips would upset the Spurs in round 1 in exactly 7 games? Where were you when I put my money where my mouth is by taking the Rockets to cover in game 5 against LAC when most had written them off? Where were you when I said it was disrespectful to have the Rockets as underdogs at home in game 7 after momentum had clearly shifted? Where were you when I said I like the Rockets in game 1 against the Warriors and again put my money where my mouth is? How come I never hear from you when making accurate predictions or correct picks? These are just things that I've said/done in the past month alone, and people say I'm "negative."

In addition to the questions above, here's the original one that you've conveniently failed to answer: When have I ever said that I wanted the Rockets to lose or is that something else that you've completely manufactured and fabricated?

    These, are words of wisdom.

Unfortunately a lot of the so-called fans here failed to comprehend.

    May I suggest:

    Peace.

One thing we can all agree on - even Kwame and Sam Fisher and Carl Herrera and dandorotik and heypartner and whoever and I - is that we want the Rockets to win, yes?

Let's just agree on that and stop playing gotcha about who said what or whatever?

Let's stun the Warriors and steal game 1 from them!

    GO ROCKETS!!!!
