On the Sansa/LittleFinger Note Spoilering because it is conjecture and some folx may not watch until today. . . . I think 24 hours to catch up from Last Night's episode is not asking too much. Spoiler Look at the Senarios from Little Finger's Perspective 1. Stannis is coming .. . if he kills the Boltons . . Stannis will need Sansa to hold the North and She is under Little Finder's Influence. 2. IF the Boltons win . . . He already has his alliance - They won't suspect him and they will be weakened 3. He severed the Alliance between the Boltons and the Lannisters - When he moves on the the Dimished Boltons he will have Lannister Support and most of the North's support - Most people in the north are not liking the Boltons right about now anyway. They betrayed the King of the North . . and were part of the 'Red Wedding' No Matter what happens there is every possibility that he will have control of the North . . via Winterfell and the Aery Not bad for a guy from such a minor house. No Book knowledge necessary to see how he is moving. Rocket River
I wouldn't consider his a main character. I might be wrong, but aside from being a great knight and recurring character, he was just an advisor. No huge shock deaths yet....like when the unsullied had his throat slashed and we thought it was grey worm....I was like HOLY ****! I was waiting for Reek to kill Ramsay...Just no huge shock value deaths yet.
Ripping your wife's clothes off, bending her over and pounding her while she cries and screams in pain (knowing full well she doesn't want to be there) all with her knowing that someone she hates is standing there watching AND you treated her like crap just before hand (questioning her virginity, mocking her, etc.) is definitely rape. I don't "mind" that they did the rape thing if it makes sense. I just expect that ultimately it won't really have mattered, just done to give shock value. Like killing Barristan Selmy. The writers admitted to the actor that they only killed him because they wanted the audience to get an unexpected shock. It's just dumb. Not long term planning, killing off one of the shows better actors (under utilized to date) for no reason other than to say "SURPRISE!"
Actually .. . . . I see all the Stark Children having Mentors and learning skills I thought Little Finger is teaching Sansa the skill of Manipulation . . . and I would like to see her start Manipulating Ramsey . . . .. perhaps against his father at some point Arya is learning Facelessness Jon is learning Leadership on the Wall Bran is learning Magic Rocket River
I thought it was obvious that Sansa was going to be tortured by Ramsey. It should get worse the next couple of episodes. You should probably adjust your expectations. Not much romance coming from Ramsey. I'm interested in seeing how this all plays out. Odds are that Stannis will get wrecked. Littlefinger with yet another angle to play. And Barristan Selmy is such minor character. I'm not sure how his death is big deal. I was more bummed when Ros the prostitute and Grenn were killed off.
Again, you misunderstand my complaint. The show is full of bad things happening, and as long as they make sense with respect to the narrative, well, it's just part of a good story. I don't think the Sansa angle makes sense as part of the narrative. Not only doesn't it make sense from a storytelling perspective in my mind, it makes even less sense logistically. Setting everything else aside about how silly the story and LF plot seems, how in the word is he traveling all over this country so quickly to set all these plans in motion? He traveled from the Vale to Winterfell and from Winterfell all the way to King's Landing in what, 4 episodes? It took Jamie the same amount of time, by boat, to get from King's Landing to Dorne! From the time Stannis marches his army from The Wall to Winterfell, Littlefinger will presumably have gone from Winterfell to King's Landing, King's Landing to the Vale and then from the Vale to Winterfell (if this new plot with him taking the Knights of the Vale to Winterfell holds up.) Sorry, the Littlefinger/Sansa storyline just doesn't make a lot of sense to me and unfortunately from a storytelling perspective, I believe what the show decided is that they wanted Sansa to have that scene with Ramsay and then wrote a needlessly convoluted storyline in order to make that happen. The payoff may ultimately still be awesome, but the steps along the way were just stupid in my opinion. He was a good actor with a good backstory. I'd much rather listen to him or see him fight than watch these silly Missandei/Grey Worm love scenes. Blah
I think the disconnect is that a negative assessment has been made on this storyline. I'm not sure how that determination could've been reached since we seem to be still in the early stages. Unless you've seen the remaining episodes, your conclusion may be premature. GOT TV has been great thus far. The payoff has always been awesome. I'm enjoying her inclusion at Winterfell dealing with that dynamic. Would the story have been better to leave Sansa in the Erie and watching her eat lemon cakes and teach Robin manners? There's nothing going on there.
This isn't that spoiler-ish since it's about the book version of what we've already seen and not some event in the future, but just to be safe: In the book: Spoiler Ramsay has Theon/Reek cut off her clothes off with a knife. Reek thinks about how easy it would be to turn around and kill Ramsay. But Ramsay had tortured Theon so much that he thinks it's all a sadistic trick by Ramsay and that when he tries and fails to kill him, Ramsay will chop his hand off. So he doesn't do it. Due to the way the book is written, we know Theon's thoughts. It doesn't come across in the show as well (it can't), but Theon has been severely psychologically traumatized. He's really, really messed up in the head. In a way, he's similar to Gollum in LOTR. And even though he hates Ramsay and would love to see him murdered, he's just a beaten down dog that's completely obedient to his master and is too afraid to stand up against him because he's convinced he'll fail and be punished for it. Oh, and Ramsay also makes Theon perform oral sex on his new bride to "warm her up" and get her wet for him.
I also did a double-take when they showed Littlefinger back in Kings Landing. He must be getting around on the Pony Express. But this wouldn't be the first time that the show has bent time and space to get their plot objectives completed. I'm not ready to write off the Sansa story as a waste of time though. Though neither was I much bothered by the closing scene. It was discreet and short and nothing like the interminable Theon torture scenes. If that's the worst she gets, she'll be all right.
I have not read the books yet but the way Theon was looking in disgust I just thought he was ready to become Theon again.
i feel uncomfortable just making out with my girl in front of my dog. i always have to give him a treat and trick him to stay in the other room. ramsay has issues.
Society treated things differently in this time / universe. Remember in the red wedding that girl was being carried out and her clothes were being torn apart and Catelyn Stark said that Ned didn't do that to her. Consummating the marriage the night of the wedding is part of the tradition in this story and is expected whether the girl wants to or not. Usually they dont want to since it is an arranged marriage. No one is trying to stop it as they consider it part of their tradition and the girls "duty".
I feel silly for bringing in a Harry Potter reference, but I think Littlefinger is like Snape, in that he was way too in love with Catelyn Stark to now do anything to hurt Sansa. Sure, he is brilliantly scheming and is mentally 10 steps ahead of everyone else, but deep down, there's some sentimentality there.
No, I get the feeling they're going the other way here. He may have a scheme to make her his wife in the end, but it'll be about getting his compensation for not having Catelyn for his wife, not about making things right for Sansa.
