Yes, lot's of similarities. It's quite creepy considering it's the 20th anniversary. That-being-said, it's hard to see this team on the same level as he '95 Rockets because those Rockets were defending Champs. They had the pedigree, and had the sort of air around them like the Spurs have had for the past 15 years. A team that doesn't do well in the reg season, but you know have the champion vets to turn it on in the playoffs. The '15 Rockets are quite the opposite because they had a much higher seed and played well in the regular season, but you just don't feel as confident about them since they aren't defending champs. There is stil ldome pedigree there with Harden/Howard finals experience as well as title experience from Ariza/Terry/Brewer... but all in all, you could never write off that '95 team. Here's to the '15 team beating the Warrios. I truly think it can happen, but that's not to say I think they have the same air about them as the '95 team.
And a movie that just recently hit theatres. "Mad Max" Best of luck to the Rockets, though. Keep fightin' and take it one game at a time on Tuesday. For now, get some good little deserved rest.
I'm obviously in the minority here, and as much as I loved that time as a kid, I don't give a **** about comparing this Rockets team to that team from 20 years ago. This group we have right now is doing something special. No reason to cheapen the experience by constantly referencing things that happened 20 years ago. Two awesome times to be a Rockets fan. But this team should be allowed to be defined in its own way. To have a unique identity and place in history. No reason to keep likening and linking this group of player to the past.
That doesn't really have anything to do with what I just said. I understand the importance of those teams to the Rockets' legacy quite well. I just think this team should be allowed to forge their own identity and place in history, exclusive of events that transpired decades ago.
you don't have to be on a thread you don't like if you are a dog and you don't like cats don't go to the cat section
Wrong, we were 1-5 vs. Spurs that year, how people forget Olajuwon dropping 47 on them and Maxwell hitting the game winning three
History is important. You need to know where you came from in order to know where you're going. That era won back to back championships, this team has yet to match that feat. Gotta pay your respects and learn from the best.
I was saying the comeback in winning the round 2 series had an air of destiny about it and even though the Warriors were my pick to win it all without being tested in a 7 game series, the Rockets could win the whole thing. Whoever wins the WC final will be the Finals champion, that's the real championship series the East doesn't have a chance.
Tinman, so so so true. If I hear Drake, Little Wayne, on another track!! Rap music has hit rock bottom!!!
All music has hit rock bottom. 1994-1995 was a great time if you were a rap or alternative fan. I'm still upset that those Rockets championship videos were saddled with crappy country songs when there were so many better options. The Bulls got Tom Petty and Michael Jackson for theirs.
