Kristian Trompiz is one of 2 players on the Quad Cities roster under 20. He hit a 3-run homer in the 6th to push the River Bandits' lead over Beloit to 6-2. Trompiz was signed for $300K in the 2012 international signing period.
Michael Feliz looks like he's starting to hit his stride in Lancaster. Tonight in Visalia, he went 5 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. JetHawks and Rawhide tied at 3 in the 7th.
AJ Reed hit his 9th HR of the season Velasquez with a meh second game. 4IP 3H 2R 4BB 6K He is putting up big K numbers

I was just gonna post yesterday that Torreyes was rapidly becoming expendable with Fontana, and Sclafani at AAA, and Kemp due a promotion any day. Jose Fernandez is also making noise at Lancaster. All 4 of them a rule V candidates next year. I pretty sure this was merely a something is better than nothing trade instead of releasing him. Misfire by Luhnow protecting him instead of Rollins or DD.
Its good to have depth in case of injury. They got a good thing going with Fields-Sipp-Qualls-Neshek-Gregerson... and Harris has been a great surprise as well. However if any of those guys goes down, your options are then Deduno (who's currently intermittently starting, and the only long-man), and Chapman (who's a LOOGY).
IIRC Chapman is in AAA and Thatcher is missing from your list. The Astros appear to be carrying 8 bullpen pitchers. Sorted by ERA: Harris - 0.35 Sipp - 0.63 Fields - 1.35 Thatcher - 2.35 Gregerson - 2.40 Neshek - 3.14 Qualls - 3.38 Deduno - 6.86 Damn, that's good.
Well Chapman was here as of this week... guess that move was made recently, but still Thatcher is also of the LOOGY ilk. Now LMJr is going to be making his debut, which likely means a pitcher on the 40 man is going to be DFA'd, with one of the active roster guys sent down.
4IP 6H 5R 5BB 4K Ugh come on Appel... McCullers made it to the big leagues first and he was coming out of HS the year Appel was drafted (by the Pirates, but still).
his trade value is going down... who could you really trade for a hammels type if appels value goes downhill?
