Tirico on the other hand understands it, awesome: http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2015/05/announcer-mike-tirico-on-rockets-comeback-i-really-dont-have-the-words-for-it/
I watched the game with him last night...he roots for the Rockets, although, he's not very emotionally attached. He does go to most of the games though. Even went to LA for games 3 and 4 and rooted for red nation.
I rather enjoyed it, him getting clearly upset and stunned by our amazing comeback. It was as if not only the fans, experts, but even commentators all against us. And then we stunned everyone. Stick it Barry, stick it LA, stick it ESPN !
Figured this belongs here. Was at the game and after the game ended, was somewhere around Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLA when Jon Barry(guess he was doing radio analysis??) walked by. As he walked by, Ramona yells out to him, "Guess you'll be coming back to Houston Jon". Jon Barry looks back happily but still like a douche, and says "No I won't. I'm doing the Eastern Conference games". I guess even though the ECF is on TNT, ESPNRadio will still cover it as well as the WCF and Jon Barry will be doing more radio analysis for ESPNradio. On the plus side, that's good that his Rockets-hating self will be off the tv and radio for all the WCF games but yeah, his reaction after the game spoke volumes imo about how he feels about Houston and the Rockets. He definitely has no love for this city or the Rockets.
He's despicable and in game 6 when he had to swallow his tongue it was my favourite moment of listening to him. I unmuted it just to listen to his lovely reactions.
excuse me? mute- unmute. English is not my native language so sorry for errors. When the Rockets started their comeback I put the sound back on so I could listen to him? Better?
How could you tell the difference between the volume off and listening to Jon Barry? In other words, Jon Barry was mostly silent in the face of the Rockets epic comeback. It's a joke.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tomorrow morning we have Jon Barry on at 6;50 to talk Rockets playoff series win, Jeff Van Gundy at 7:50 & <a href="https://twitter.com/ca_rockets">@ca_rockets</a> in the 8 AM hour.</p>— Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) <a href="https://twitter.com/LanceZierlein/status/600110789551329280">May 18, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
HHH LOL Well he did break his silence with comments of frustration and disbelief lol Why did people listen to Skip Bayless? And anyway why would anyone in their right mind appoint Jon Barry to commentate ANY match on national tv? But it happens.
So he just finished his interview with Lance. His basic explanation was denial and that some Clippers fans accused him of bias against them, so he sees nothing wrong. He mentioned a specific instance during the run where Tirico said that the Clippers were standing around on offense and he gave credit to the Rockets by saying they were forced to do that by the defense. Also he denied all claims that he has anything against Houston citing his great two years here and loving to listen to mchale speak. Ok I guess... Lance attacked the subject head on, but he obviously spoon fed him some answers. For example, he defended Barry's sudden loss of words as evidence that they were stunned by what they were witnessing. That argument would make a lot more sense if Barry wasn't a freaking national TV announcer! Maybe this is just exhibit 845461815 that he doesn't belong on air. The lack of professionalism was a joke. I do give credit to Barry for doing the interview and standing by his work. That takes some guts.
Jon Barry is the type of brother that makes you cringe thinking that he is still an idiot even as an adult. Bones must be really disappointed.
Came here to post this. Guy sounds like his dog just got killed. He blame the clippers collapse on tiredness. Man everyone is tired these days...no excuses
