Chris Webber is the best. I don't understand why he is so underrated as an announcer. Shaq's spot on Inside the NBA should have gone to Webber.
Not everyone agrees about Chris Webber apparently.

DEAD DOG TALK BETTER THAN THE CHRIS WEBBER
— The Iron Sheik (@the_ironsheik) May 13, 2015

The one thing I got from this thread is that people are confused. Folks on here don't know if they are discussing local or national in-game analysts, studio analysts, or sideline reporters. Heinsohn and Elliot are not national in game pbp analysts so do they qualify if not everyone gets to hear them? Shaq is a studio analyst not an in game analyst. Chris Broussard is a sideline reporter. WTF is this thread about? I'm guessing not all three.
Yes because we humans all have the same sense of humor and thinking shaq is funny or thinking Tommy Heinsohn is funny ergo means one would find a certain movie genre or comedy type funny. Brilliant. That sucks for you that Shaq doesn't make you laugh I guess. He's apparently making enough people out there laugh that TNT chose to re-up him.
Thx for the correction re. Walton. Shaq isn't on Inside the NBA for legitimate insight imo. He's there to be Barkley's foil and for comic relief. He does a good enough job at that and the TNT suits chose to bring him back for a few more years. From what I've observed on social media, the majority seem to be fine w/Shaq and find him decently amusing. Obviously one can't be everyone's cup of tea and I guess Shaq isnt. I think Webber is more polarizing than any other. I found the reviews on Chris Webber are quite mixed just on social media. Those that enjoy his analysis are there and those that do not, are there. Reggie is one that everyone seems to agree on. He is just useless and terrible as an in game pbp analyst. I haven't come across any positive Reggie Miller comments on social media.
Reggie butchers the English language, first of all. He is a complete idiot...like 90 IQ level idiocy. Secondly, he repeats the same exact points over and over and over, sometimes on back to back possessions. Third, he says "if you're <insert name here> than you've got to ________" so much that I cannot stand it. For instance: "Derek Rose needs to drive to the basket more." This is a perfectly good sentence that gets right to the point. Reggie would make this sentence "if you're Derek Rose, you need to drive to the hoop more." First of all, no one watching is Derek Rose. Derek Rose is on the floor! I can understand using this language every now and again (almost every commentator does), but Reggie uses it ALL THE TIME. Marc Jackson uses it all the time as well. I had pushed him out of my memory. I think I hate Marc Jackson more than Jon Barry. If you want to get really drunk during the game, take a drink every time Reggie says "if you're <insert name>" and you'll be passed out by halftime.
It's similar to when people say "A team like the [insert team name here]" instead of just saying the team. Example: "If you're playing a team like the Spurs, you have to play good defense." Why can't they just say "When you play the Spurs..." Extra words=smart! Matt Thomas on 790 is the worst at this. He'll say it about players. "Who do you think the Rockets should trade for?" "They should trade for a player like a Goran Dragic if you will." Just say Goran Dragic! LOL Or, "If a Pat Beverly returns, things are different." Why did you add the "a" there? Just say Pat Beverly.
He's not worst ever but Jalen Rose is a bit annoying. It's almost as if he tries to hard to be hip and funny. Like trying to emulate the TNT crew.
Has nothing to do with his feeling towards the rockets He's totally out of touch, boring as ****, and annoying
Reggie Miller is a terrible commentator. Jon Barry is a close 2nd which is unfortunate because he was great with one liners when he was a rocket and I always thought he would make for a great commentator. Nope. JVG is my favorite and I'll aslo vote Webber as vastly underrated. He deserves a lot more work.
I've been sleeping on how bad and annoying Jon Barry is. Especially when compared to his brother. CWebb is basically the crown prince of TNT pbp work. They actively give him more work already. Just not as much as the terrible Reggie Miller. Underrated-I'm still sticking with Steve Smith and Brent Barry. It sucks that Jon Barry gets more national pbp analysis exposure than Brent. No question which brother does a better job imo.
Meh, can't please everyone I guess, but I think a number of people appreciate what Jalen brings, especially compared to the rest of ESPN's NBA in game and studio analysts.
