There is no past. There is no future. There is only the present. If you are inclined to consider Now a failure if we do not win tonight, please re-consider. When was the last time you could say the Houston Rockets were playing a 6th game in the second round in the toughest division in basketball in years ? When was the last time the Houston Rockets had a player who was a legitimate MVP candidate ? This is a team that finished with the 3rd best record in franchise history. When was the last time the team exceeded it's own history ? How many years of play did it take Hakeem Olajuwon to win a championship ? I worked with Anita Martini, one of the greatest figures in sports in the history of Houston sports. A woman who broke the male only dominated locker rooms of the Houston Oilers and the NFL. I worked in news at the same station. Neither of us considered it a failure when Boston beat us that year in the finals. We both celebrated the future. It would take another 10 years for that future. So that is my message to anyone who has read through this and thinks somehow this team has "failed". Stop yourself. Go Look in the mirror. Don't be that guy or gal who was so opinionated and negative that they failed to appreciate what has already been achieved. Don't play what have you done for me lately, it leads only to misery. BE HERE NOW> GO Rockets.
RED NATION ROLL! Great post. It's been a marvelous season so far with plenty of highs rather than lows. I still have that hope but if not, Congrats Houston on keeping this year interesting.
I believe! Also, this team had great road record this season and is due for a road Win in this series. Go Rockets!!
It's the NBA playoffs and anything can happen. I'm ignoring my somewhat-pessimistic/realist fan mentality and simply rooting for my team to go out there and win a game of Basketball.
It's just basketball people, and it's for your entertainment. There's no point to get all emotional over it. R-E-L-A-X
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow may never come. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present. Carpe Diem
By the time you know the present, it's gone into the past. You got nothing to hold onto. You're right, enjoy it.
Spartan King James: Give them nothing! But take from them everything! King James: This is where we hold them! This is where we fight! This is where they die! Captain: Earn these shields, boys! [Spartans cheer] King James: Remember this day, men, for it will be yours for all time.
Nothing but incredible thanks from me to witness any playoff game of the Rockets, especially with a legit superstar to witness. I forgive a lot of the annoying GARM posters here, because many could not really experience the sheer joy to watch Hakeem, Rudy and co win those two rings after so much adversity threw the years before that. Once you experience something like that, you learn something about the game and how it is a metaphor for life, and cheerish the moment. Don't be so freaking negative about the future.
