Completely agree on Steve Smith and Brent Barry. Completely disagree about Chris Webber. He doesn't need anymore airtime, it'll just help him make up ground on Reggie for the Worst Basketball Analyst title.
What are we actually talking about here? Shaq is just a presenter, he doesn't actually call any games does he? He doesn't even qualify as an analyst...
Jon Barry for sure. His bias towards and against certain teams / players really shows in his tone of voice. Reggie is the same way, but less extreme. He also takes like 50 words to convey his meaning, when 10 words would have sufficed. Overly bloated.
"Andrew Byyyynum" Broussard uses so many outs and disclaimers it's unreal. "If ____ can ____, he possibly might have a chance to maybe _____" Grow a pair
I agree that he doesn't qualify as an analyst. So what's he doing on TNT's halftime & post game shows analyzing what happened? Shaq's simply unbearable to watch &/or listen to! Barkley's not far behind.
No one has said they don't like Bill Walton. But Shaq, just no. He rarely has any legitimate insight and he's not funny (at least not on Inside the NBA). I'd say most people disagree with you about Chris Webber. He's liked by many. He's definitely not the best, but he's probably the best on TNT. Magic was definitely bad, but I've only ever seen him during pre-game, post-game, and half-time shows. Since I haven't had to listen to him call a full game, I can't really name him as the worst. Jon Barry is probably my choice for worst. He's bad at pretty much every part of being an analyst.
Like someone else mentioned, Tommy Heinson was the absolute worse. I think it's Scott Hastings that does the games for Denver that is really horrible as well. I believe those guys are worse than Shaq.
Y'all naïve if you think Shaq is there as an "analyst" he is there as an entertainer, although he fails there too
Anyone who thinks Shaq is funny must also enjoy Tyler Perry movies. Or perhaps Larry the Cable Guy. Shaq is a buffoon and his sense of humor is juvenile at best. He does not make me laugh. He makes me angry.
Sounds more like NBA studio personalities in general. I agree shaq & magic are pretty horrible, but their "only" real limitations are what they have to say & how they say it. My all time worst ever, Tim Hardaway, couldn't get anything right. It's what would happen if you threw a grade school kid out there- I remember one time watching him standing beside the host of the show, who was talking, setting up a clip or somethign, & tim was slyly making funny faces straight into the camera that no one else on the set could see. It was the weirdest thing ever. He was gone after that, didn't even make the rest of the season.
