Being a fan doesn't mean you blindly believe they will win a series. Being a fan means your heart jumps and sinks with the team's fortune. I don't think we will win Game 6. I think we'll get blown out. I don't feel like watching the end of our season tomorrow night because I don't think we have the team that can beat the Clippers. That doesn't make me a bandwagoner fan, it makes me a realistic fan. I'm still paying attention. Bandwagoner fans come at the end when a team has made it really far and about to win. We've been here since the beginning when McHail and Morey took the first steps in rebuilding this team. No one who's been here is a bandwagoner. This thread is an insult to all of us fans who watch but actually have half a brain and understand the daunting task that lies ahead of us tomorrow.
I remember when I was a little kid, and another kid said you aren't a real Christian if you didn't believe in Santa Clause. This is kind of like that. (Although I do believe the odds of the Rockets winning are far greater than Santa coming down my chimney)
Well, if she signed up at CFnet as "Miss Easy" ... she will probably start trending around here as the next Miss Universe. Sorta like if Another Brother's Spurs Power Dancer daughter signed up here as "Another Sista"
As a fan, there are times you need to call out your team and not just be a blinded fanboy like the OP. Someone who calls fellow Rocket fans "bandwagoners" when they display disgust over a lack of effort in games 1,3,and 4 is a total tool and should have his thread locked. It is one thing to lose a gruelling series like San Antonio by fighting your guts out and it is another thing to be humiliated as we have been for most of this series. A good blog like Clutchfans not only has fanboys (such as the OP) but also introspectives who call out the team when needed in hopes of getting improvement and also in a therapeutic way for venting the frustration that our beloved team occasionally bestowes upon us.
Definitely agree about being realistic, I think Houston has a chance if Jordan is in foul trouble, but we'll see how it's called. LAC have just been bad matchup for us. Anyway on topic...the only thing I think that is ****ty on this site is people posting about being happy about bad performances and how they were so right about how ****ty the team is. It's like this sorry troll job, like last night game thread was ****ing quiet since Rockets were winning... But if they lost you know a lot of hate would be posted. I have np hearing intelligent critique, especially when team is performing bad, but I have seen such useless posts on some threads since the playoffs started that I wonder if some even follow the same team as us.
rockets didnt play up to their level in the first 4 games, then randomly in game 5 they played like they forgot it was the playoffs. if u wanna blindly root for a team that does something like that in the playoffs, then you got your own problems. its like bashing ariza's shooting. i dont think there was a single post i had where i bashed his shooting and someone quoted me saying he does other things. its like wow, you cant say anything bad about your team or your a bandwagon fan.
Some do not even know what fairweather fans and bangwagoners stand for.... Championship teams have those in masses, and ESPN hyped teams.... I would have understood that the 1994 and 1995 championship teams had a few.... It is the second time we have been to the 2nd round, how is that being very successful in order to have attracted so many of those? No. The Rox do not have many, there are many Trolls and Obnoxious ppl here. That I might agree with.
I'm one of the most optimistic posters here but you can't blame fans for giving up on the team after 3 blowout losses and one of those losses being to a team without CP3 at home. Bandwagon only means changing teams. IF someone goes "Oh, I'm rooting for the Warriors now!" in the middle of the series, that's a bandwagon fan. By the rules of international fandom you can only root for another team when your team is out of the race.
I learned to celebrate my goals in soccer from Vernon. He looked so sweet in the air. If I were 17 now I'd probably be doing some cooking.
Yeah, but your entire heart and soul cannot be into it if you root for another team. You have to save the whole thing for the Rockets. And you gotta have ketchup coursing through your mustard veins.
Yeah, let's turn it into a information stream where Clutch, Bima, Cyberx and J.R. just post updates and have podcasts to discuss things and we can all just keep our fandom offline
I would argue and say those who have lost faith in the rockets ability and are genuinely disgusted by the game 3 & 4 performance are BIGGER fans than those who are blindly rooting like sideline cheerleaders say "We can do it!" When your a true fan, you live and die with your team. When your team gets tossed out of the playoffs, you go in to deep depression for days if not weeks. You start to self council yourself after a few days saying "win or lose, what did I personally gain from the rockets anyway? Why am I so upset" you try hard to look for other hobbies like you would if you just lost your ex gf and are trying to find a rebound. This is what being a true fan feels like. It's not going "I'm sooo proud of the rockets and I know we will do better next year, hooray for this season!!" after a poor series effort. Yes if we lose tomorrow in blow out fashion, it will still be a piss poor series effort, one good game doesn't change that. In games 3 & 4, they were late night games that went on until close to midnight. I couldn't sleep after the game. I lied there with angry thoughts. I woke up several times in the middle of the night feeling it was just a dream, no way the rockets played that bad and got humiliated. Being a fan can be very dark and depressing because we are so passionate.
The problem here is the word fan comes from the word fanatic...meaning no matter how much you try to be objective you still want to root for the team. On the other hand what you have in CF are people who claim to be fans but really try to put the team down at every chance they get. People who call Mchale McFail for example, Harden James Frauden, or Morey Maury. Worse still, these guys have limited understanding of bball but act like they have 50 years of NBA bball knowledge under their belt. I mean just look at the overreaction on the board when Houston went 3-1 to Dallas, these guys were slobberring all over the Mavs coach, owner and Dirk and acted like the Rox were on the brink of elimination and wanted everyone fired and traded after 1 stinking loss. You're right, fans dont have to think their team will always win. But I dont think you can call people who throw the team under the bus every chance they get and keep quiet when the Rox win should call themselves fans as well.
I thought you got to win something or actually come close to winning something to be classified as a "bandwagon" fan Why would anyone jump on the Rockets bandwagon after years of mediocrity? Because of everyone's most hated player Dwight or because of fake superstar Harden? LOLOL. Pathetic thread.
too funny, i thought it was when you buy the gear of the latest champ. like one year your wearing spurs gear, then heat gear, then warriors gear. when dwight feels like playing and harden is on this team is hard to beat. only problem is not sure which team will show up.
