At missions game! McCullers off speed stuff is so nasty. Guys are missing his slider by 6 inches each time. Closer material.
Bet Luhnow told Correa to wait a little closer to Super 2 to get hot and that's why Correa went 1-5. lol joking.
Correa 1-5 in AAA debut. Singleton hit another bomb, that's 9. Trails only Preston Tucker's 10 for PCL lead.
Yesterday, Lance McCullers threw 4 perfect innings in San Antonio and struck out 6. That's 43 Ks in 29 innings of work for him, and he lowered his ERA to 0.62.
What do we do with Singleton now? After the Gattis trade, we have no room for him in the active roster.....Are one of Carter / Singleton trade bait material at this point?
Correa had a couple of nice plays in the field as well. It was raining during the whole game as well.
In the early game, Jake Nottingham hit his 6th homer of the year as Quad Cities has battled back from a 7-0 deficit against Beloit to tie the game at 8.
^^ Nottingham finished 3-5 with a 2-run double to go along with that homer to raise his average to .291. The River Bandits outscored Beloit 15-1 from the 2nd to the 6th innings as they got the win, 15-8. The 7-run comeback was their largest since August 2011.
Sean McMullen is the only guy not to get a hit for QC today. He's also the only guy not to score a run for them. Jason Martin And McMullen are the only two today without an RBI. You know you have a potent offense when you can win by 7 after being down by 7.
Jesus, 26-7 for the River Bandits now. Coming into the season, the only high level prospect on that team was DJ Fisher. Given his age, I think it's safe to say Nottingham is becoming a real prospect, particularly if he sticks at C. Jason Martin is still only 19 and worth watching. Daniel Mengden, and Joe Musgrove are also both establishing themselves. Interesting to see how these pitching prospects fare in the torture chamber at Lancaster. Luhnow's people are like the anti Rick Smith, they just keep piling on depth.
If the kid can stick at C he will turn into one of our better prospects. Very advanced bat for the position/age combo.
Nottingham, who is in the midst of a 6-game hitting streak, is slashing .291/.358/.570 in 24 games this season.

In other pitching performances of note, Brian Holmes currently has a 19-inning scoreless streak for Lancaster after finishing off the final 4 innings to seal a 2-0 JetHawks win over Visalia. He was a 13th-round pick in 2012. Those 4 innings were perfect; he struck out 7, which gives him 45 in 30.1 IP this season. Holmes also lowered his ERA to 2.37.
