Okay well I agree and disagree with certain parts of this, but since I'm just really happy that you finally at least tried to answer the really simple question I asked you quite a while ago I'm not going to pick nits.

What I will say is that sure, I could see Terrence Jones as a replacement player.....so if he'll take another rookie deal or a contract near the league minimum to be a backup then we'll be set. If not, then he's not "perfect". Part of his value right now is that he's on a rookie deal, pay him 7 mil a year and he's an awful bench quality player.

Think of it like Josh Smith (which is what Jones could be if he became a better defender), he's a guy who we picked up for the minimum and he was a good bench player for us when he wasn't asked to do too much.....Pay Smith what he was getting in Detroit, or even 7 or 8 mil a year and you don't want him on your team at all.

It's not certain and noone will bet on it but in the east as center he could in the future be an all star once or twice. has to be healthy and continue improving though. Now as he is he wouldn't be of course.

They're not traditional skills, but they are skills none the less. I would prefer he has an elite skill (which is why I prefer DMO slightly) but he's in essence a really really good garbage man right now. He's young, so I'm not blaming him for not pushing through this post-season (besides, he won one game for us and kept us in another). In any case, anytime you have a 3rd year player who gets 15.6/8/2.5, I call that a win. He has another 4 or so years to reach his prime. He has shown a lot of potential. If he cleans up his defensive awareness, he could improve dramatically. I'd trade him and a pick in an instant for Ty Lawson.

If you view Jones as a player like that who is only making 2.5 mil next year on an expiring deal you weigh that production to fill in the gap vs. what you are getting back in a trade (as you said, late 2nd rounder).

The Rockets traded Two 2nd rounders for Prigioni so there is value in replacement players that can help NOW vs. 2nd rounders to the Rockets.

We just have to wait and see what happens with Smith and D-Mo's back before we can say anything about shopping Jones for anything. Displaced disk/fusion/whatever doesn't matter. Back injuries and coming back from back surgery is no joke. I'm crossing my fingers but being realistic about it as well.

We also shouldn't make assumptions about Jones' free agency cost and that being a deterrent from needing to move him ASAP. If he costs too much well you got good value production from him the past 4 years, and you let him walk. If you can get a bargain contract for him then its worth it that you soaked up the production he gave you in the final year or his deal, and claim a nice asset and value contract when he resigns for a good deal. This isn't a player that is going to cripple the franchise if he leaves in 2016 and you get nothing back. You already got 3 good years out of a rookie contract player.

I think he is a lot like Pau Gasol and that's his upside .... borderline allstar if he reaches that potential / consistency and improves a few little things.

Well in that sense everyone in the Nba has skills.
Btw I don't think that he doesn't belong in the NBA as some people around here think. This is ridiculous.
I want to see him USE his athletic ability his size and his skill. He has them now but he doesn't use them that much.
About his prime..if he doesn't improve his prime won't be much better than he is now.
One of the best skills in my opinion for a NBA player is : the desire, will and effort to continue improve throughout his carreer. Add more things in his game. Look at Millsap and what he has become. He continues to add elements in his game even as a 10th year veteran.

The Kings will try to add a shotblocking big next to Cousins. IF that is not named Towns but its WCS (meaning they don't win the lottery) then they will try to get Lawson+ some asset for their pick. If this happens their offer will trump any offer the Rockets will make.
We will know at the draft lottery in one week.
The Rockets should try to find other PG targets.

    This.

I have said it until I am blue that Morey's biggest mistake this season was not trading for a starting pg. Huge blunder, which was compounded by Bev's season ending injury. Maybe Morey is too smart to believe a high quality pg is not necessary in his system, but if that was the case, Morey is dead wrong.

See, you say things like this and it makes it impossible to take you seriously because it's clear you have no clue about what you are talking about. What specific surgery you have makes a HUGE difference. What you are doing is like comparing laparoscopic surgery to open heart surgery....comparing a hangnail to losing an arm.

I enjoy a lot trades and I also like to keep tabs in most teams in the NBA. And I can guarantee you that Jones' market value - even if the whole NBA and GMs think he's not going to improve one bit and his nerve injury might happen again- is NOT a late second rounder.
A late second rounder is completely a filler for trades for useless players in salary dumps.
Right now I would gauge his trade value alone at around the 20th pick + a mid second rounder.

Yup, and in the process Morey exposed his superstar guard to massive failure and embarrassment. I want to say, unknowingly, but how could Morey not have foreseen that teams could shut down Harden and then the team would not be able to manufacture offense?

That's why we were ranting after the trade deadline why we didn't go for Dragic or another young starting PG.

I only hope Harden can pick up the pieces because he did everything right this season and still ended up failing badly. This will burn into his psyche and what kind of player will Harden be after this?

I think Harden and Howard will bat for coaching changes--someone not named McHale will be sacrificed--and roster upheaval again.

I think this will galvanize Morey's belief he needs a third star and will throw anything and everything at acquiring LMA, Love, and perhaps Lawson.

Brewer is likely gone, Smith I believe will be back just because we will come cheap, Bev, Prigs, Terry, Papa, McDaniels all likely gone.

McHale probably gets one more year.

Seeing this post makes me feel much better about this awful playoff series. So tired of Josh Smith garbage play.

I like Josh Smith. If he returns ok. If he doesn't ok. Overall, I just hope its for the benefit and improvement of our team.

I would rather keep Smith over Jones, but financially that might not be the best route to take.

TJ still has potential and room to improve. You know exactly what you are going to get out of Josh Smith.
