Why don't we take any midrange jumpers?

Except we're not hitting our 3s in this series.

The playoffs beg for post play. That's why losing Dmo hurt so much.

Hmmm, did someone post a while back his math says 33% 3P makes = 50% 2pt jumpers.

Because outside of Terry and Harden, none of our guys can hit them even if they are wide open.

That's where the sticky ball comes in..... You keep swinging it around. Our players are playing individually instead of a team.

Because we don't have mid-range shooters outside of Harden and Dmo.

Because the law of averages, which is pointless for short spurts of discrete games but we'll ignore that, says that shooting 33% from 3 is equivalent to shooting 50% from 2. We'll also ignore how easy it makes it to defend us when we're either behind the arc waiting to brick a 3 or crashing into the paint with no real plan except score or draw a foul.

Ariza. Seriously has anyone actually seen him make it when he dribbles in for a long 2??

The spurs make it work pretty well. The key is space and pace. As McHale has said, "the ball gets sticky". Rockets are standing around and not swinging the ball around which forces them into more contested 3 pointers.

Clippers defense is shutting down the drive and they defend the three well. Definitely a few more midrange plays could only help and open things up.

So one player on the entire team?? And Ariza takes way too many contested threes. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'd guess he's close to 40% when he's wide open. When he's rushed or contested, probably more like 30%

But our system doesn't believe in that. Mid range 2's are good enough for Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich, but not for Morey/McHale.

because missing wide open threes is better!

they need to take more mid range jumpers. ask kobe how it has worked for him. of course, they dont have anyone who can make those shots other than harden and terry. a huge flaw in moreyball.

when the three or layup isnt there, which has happened a lot to the rockets in the rs and po's, take a midrange shot. hopefully morey understands this basic basketball method and works on it in the offseason

remember its basketball, not analyticball. you need an actual playbook to get guys good looks. that doesnt mean make harden create every shot

because we dont set screens purposely. I use to go off at Patterson for setting a p***y screen but it was all by design. Pat will set a screen but in reality he would just float to the 3pt line and ball handler is suppose to lay up or 3 for Pat. Just like Moreys philosophy
