Perhaps. But bungling might be a bit of a stretch. Best case scenario I'm not sure Texans would get that much for DJ. Maybe a 4th. Who knows but it does seem like the well was poisoned a bit. I'm sure the DJ camp would rather he be a FA versus being traded to a team he has no control over under his current contract
Anybody follow his short-lived show/appearances on 790 in the morning on Zierlein & Clanton's show? Did they just give up on him because he was unreliable? I swear towards the end they had no clue where he was or whether he'd show up or not from the sounds of it.
I just don't want anyone around that isn't going to be a team player. If Swearinger thought he was too good to help the team out by playing special teams.....he was VERY mistaken.
Probably among players that actually are too good for special teams. Like if Aaron Rodgers was asked to go out on kickoffs, I'm pretty sure he'd be pissed off about it.
Are the Texans better today than they were yesterday? Seems like the Texans think so since this wasn't a cap move or a roster spot move. Things must have been really bad for the team to give up on him this early.
It was the excuse used... but it isn't why he was cut. Had he graded out in the top 20% at the safety position, instead of the bottom 20%, he would still be a Texan regardless of special teams.
but how many players still on the team weren't graded as top 20% in their position? Something else must have happened.
You think that him sucking AND refusing to play special teams isn't enough? That's more than an excuse, sounds like a very solid reason to dump someone.
Heck even JJ had to be dragged off the punt-return unit for being TOO aggressive against the punter. He should've been happy to contribute on special teams or any other way to help his team out. Gotta put that ego in check
