Reggie kept stating that the refs weren't calling this last night. They were calling it in the regular season. Are they treating it as the new rip through now that it is playoffs?

It's a gamble trying initiate contact like Harden does. He drives with the intent of getting the call first and finishing the play second. his carelessness has led to countless Clipper points.

    true that.

it is an amazing and unique skill of harden the way he draws and creates fouls. it's almost the bread and butter of his game. but the drawback is it's by default so heavily dependent on the refs. a huge risk there.

Yeah. There are times to do his rip through thing, but he's got to understand when to just go up and try to finish. He's very capable.

His lack of creativity on the offensive end has been disappointing to watch in this series. The Clippers have dominated us in every single position on the court, including coaching.

The refs in the playoffs whistle differently than in regular season. It's not that they have something against teh Rockets or Harden it's that they allow much harder defence.. And that won't change any time soon.

I have long disliked his tendency to play for the foul instead of the finish. It isn't like he can't finish. And while he does draw legitimate contact, he is putting the outcome in the hands of the refs. And, as we can see, the refs can't be relied on to always go your way.

So people finally going to admit he needs the referees a lot to be succesful? It's so frustrating because he is good enough!!! He finishes lay-ups and blows by people almost like T-mac and when he looks to finish, he does 90% of the time. It's when he looks for contact that he misses, gets TOs and does not run back on defense of course. Needs to change his game or he will forever be a loser.

But if Griffin, Paul, or Big Fat Davis fall the refs seem to call it each time.

The dude has no a fire in his eye during the playoff, there is no way for that white dude on LAC who can stop you, James, you are better than that. You had a bad series last year, now you are doing the same thing.

You guys overstate how much Harden depends on those calls and how often he does moves like that... That was one play in the entire game.

Yes, his game suffers if he doesn't get calls (like most superstar scorers), but he creates in many, MANY ways. He's been playing poorly and/or defended well, diving or not.

I've been saying this for a long time and got flamed on this board.

C'mon, it's not just one play. If you have watched Harden long enough, you know what he does.

Because there are too many games going on during the season and teams will ignore one game out of 82. In the playoffs, there's too much attention on every game, especially later rounds. Teams complain, fans complain, etc. Refs have to adjust.

I mean that bad highlight that everyone's focused on was one play, and he doesn't have plays that flagrant more than like once a game typically.

Yeah, he goes for contact a lot, but he usually does it a lot more fluidly. It's why he finishes so well and gets so many and1s. He's just just flopping and flailing around endlessly. He just lost the ball there and made a futile attempt to get a call out of it. Literally every player does that.

It's his skill and it's unique and amazing. The only problem is that the playoffs have different parameters that make it less effective. If he also played in another age of the nba that favoured much more the defence his skill wouldn't work either.

Wrong. The refs hate the Clips and in one game they didn't whistle anything. They let them get hacked to death.
And for the record if it's one team I "hate" it's the Clippers. But the truth is the truth. They are a team of floppers and whiners that have made the refs hate them and leave them many times to dry.
