Personally I think the 22 win streak era roster was better than this one at full health. Much more gritty and versatile supporting cast.

Agreed - we'd only lose these games by 20 instead of 40.

There is a difference between excuses and legitimate reasons.

I don't think the 5th and 7th best players on your team being out is going to make that much of a difference.

I like Beverly, but I think his defense is severely over-rated by Rocket fans. Is he a better defender than Jason Terry? Yes. That doesn't mean he's the 2nd coming of Gary Payton like so many here seem to think.

D Mo is our third best player. Not fifth.

    1. CP3 a MVP type player didnt even play this series.

    2. DMO wouldve probably averaged 1 rebound per game going up against DJ and BLAKE we wouldve been writing him off also unless he scored 18+ a night at 50%

The clippers would have game-planned for him and neutralized him, just like they've done to everyone else in our lineup.

You'd think that at least having our 2 stars would ensure we're competitive in any game.

Here's the problem - due to our inept coach, we barely run plays where both Howard and Harden interact (e.g. pick and rolls, pick and pops, screens). It's unreal you wouldn't consistently run plays that involve both.

Really miss the JVG days where we killed teams with TMac/Yao pick and roll.

because we didn't need a full strength team against dallas. they weren't very good, so why would excuses need to be made for that series?

No tsure about Bev but I can tell you DMo wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Main reason being McHale doesn't trust DMo as much as TJ or Josh. That much should be evident to you

DMo got heavy minutes out of necessity not because McHale liked what he saw.

Most sensible posters here know DMo is our best low scoring option and clear 3rd best player but I doubt McHale would agree with that.

it's hard sometimes to ignore these haters. he probably thinks dumb ass josh smith is our 3rd best player or something. or even worse the homeless kicker who finishes like thomas robinson around the rim come playoff time. so dumb and gutless.

I agree with the majority of the posters, DMO and Bev would've AT BEST given us game 1. We would've gone to 6 or 7 games with these two but I doubt we would win the series. NOBODY in this league at the PF position can stop Griffin. They may slow him down a bit but not completely stop him. DMO is not going to stop a playoff ready Griffin. He might do a bit better than Jones and definitely Smith. Bev is not going to stop CP3. Let's be realistic here. In fact, weren't we saying Bev's defensive abilities have dipped significantly before the injury???

I'd say the gap in the scores might be a bit closer than say 30-points. Probably could've kept it within 10-points. But let's not be delusional and think the Dmo and Bev are going to turn this series around and rescue our team.

The only way to neutralize dmo is to deny him the ball, yeah that can be done, you can front him and he won't do much besides shoot 3's, he's good at shooting 3's though, but if you're fronting him, the spacing increases by magnitudes for others. He is a unique player in the sense that he a) creates his own shot, and b) shoots well in places that are typically considered dead zones. For Jones, sit 5 feet from the rim and you're good, that's how you defend Jones.

The big thing is if we won game 1 we would still have home court.
