Did you watch the 2 Rockets games vs. Spurs in April with the chance at the #2 seed on the line? Houston was DESTROYED in SA and lost at home in a back to backer. Harden shot 30% from the field (par for the course against a good team of course). Houston would have been SWEPT by SA. We were extremely lucky Chris Paul was injured or this series would obviously be long over. Against SA, we'd be facing a healthy squad. They'd have won by an average of 25-30 ppg.
Lol Spurs would have blown us out. You see all the movement they do? Rockets would have no clue what to do on defense
I hate using those last two games as the sample size though. One game was determined by a great block by Duncan. If Duncan was ONE second later...Harden scores two and the Rockets win the game. Historically with Harden and Howard we have been a Spur nightmare. Like Ive said before...this is all speculative and there is no way to determine it but my personal belief is that the Rockets would be looking good right now against the Spurs (Especially after that series went into a 7 game dog fight) In the regular season we actually matched up well with the Clippers series. I think we had their number or at least tied it. Those numbers are looking so good right now.
I absolutely think that the Clipper system is killing us. We get screened off the ball, we get picked, we get switched and the Rockets don't know how to react. Its crazy because I thought Harden was better at communicating with his teammates. Reddick has been an X factor in this series as well as Rivers but replace Jordan, Paul, and Griffin with Duncan, Parker, and Baynes/Splitter and the Rockets would suddenly have something to take advantage of. We literally cannot find one thing against this Clippers team to exploit whereas the Spurs you could go hard with Howard. I think the one key thing we would have over the Spurs is second chance opportunities and rebounds. There is just no possible way to get that advantage against a front court of Barnes, Griffin, and Jordan.
