Exactly. Conger's value is in numbers that we don't see in box scores game to game. I still think it was questionable to trade Tropeano while that fourth and fifth spot in the rotation was kind of shaky.
Wouldn't that be something if he gave away NiTro and the best catcher in our organization in exchange for Hank Conger.
I liked NiTro a lot as well, and wasn't a fan of the trade.. Watching spring training this year, I consistently heard "Hank was so great behind the plate today" or "Hank called a hell of a game" I've never heard anyone say anything like that about Castro or really any catcher we've had since Ausmus.
I guess so. The Angels announcers are all over that trade, said their GM probably said "yes" in about 20 seconds.
Luhnow was also probably trying to trade Castro at the time as well. At the time of the trade, we had Castro, Corporan, and Conger on the 40-man roster. Guess you can add that to the miscalculation register as well. Conger has turned into Keuchel's personal catcher, so there's that, right? Would be nice to get him a win today when he doesn't have his best stuff/command.
