It might be a little early to start the countdown to June 3rd, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. Being the last day of teacher appreciation week, I figure it's as good a time as any. I've pretty much lost count of my years in education, but at this point, its easier to countdown the years left to my retirement...Lucky number 7. Pretty uneventful year...70% pass rate with STAAR ELA EOC 1. Second semester I lucked out and got all senior classes. For the first time in I don't even know how many years, my basketball team was not district champs. Sucks, but the head coach did take 4 of my starters to varsity and JV. On a more personal note, with my gf, planning that trip to Vegas in June, and looking to do a lot of fishing...also working to drop some fat weight...Turning 44 was not good to my waistline. It's been a few years since I started up one of these threads.
Speaking of end of year, John Oliver did a great segment on standardized testing:
have a good summer FT. ....and the rest of you teachers too. my uni prof neighbors have been off for weeks already!
My wife is just finishing up her first year with her own classroom. 3rd grade. There's good days and bad days...but it was the best decision ever to push her to finally do it. Even on her worst day, it's nothing like her days working in an office environment where she was miserable a lot. I think the biggest surprise to her has been the actual work load and how little time off she'll actually get this summer.

Good on you Ft I appreciate teachers who sacrifice a lot including better pay elsewhere to help our society be better
