Nope. It was attacking a company. Therefore, the article is wrong and the company is right. Companies are people, too! HEB Poteet Strawberry FTW!
I don't really like ice cream and will likely never have BB again. Billing a sue happy lawyer as a "food safety expert" is BS. That guy was the only quotes in the article, report or otherwise.
Do you do this for every product category? Like, if Toyota recalls cars, are you suddenly averse to driving?
True story: This dumb-as-rocks girl told me her mom always gave her ice cream when she had an upset stomach. Said that it would help.
I'm not sure what he's eating, there have been 86 market recalls & withdrawals in the past 60 days (some obviously more serious than others), these affect everything from produce, meat and dairy to nuts, canned goods and frozen foods. http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/
That's a discussion for a much larger thread. The lack of oversight in food production is alarming, but to decrease the dependence on chemicals and additives would require raising prices. I'm sure we both know how receptive the average American shopper would be to that.
I guess this is the problem for me. If I don't buy Blue Bell, what would I buy? I have a strong aversion -- mostly irrational -- to buying Dreyer's or Breyer's or a house brand. I'd be happy to just have Ben & Jerry's all the time, but it's not reasonable to supply 4 kids on premium ice cream. So I'll need to either forgive Blue Bell or find a competitor I can learn to love. For Blue Bell, they must be working like mad. The longer they stay out the market the more likely that would-be loyal customers will find an alternative.
Hagan daz used the best ingredients and it only costsa negligible amount more for a way better taste and quality
I figured I'd do the math and see, but with the recall it's impossible to find a price for Blue Bell on the web. I think it costs me around $6 to $6.50, but I haven't really paid attention. Does anyone know? Anyway, let's say it's $7 for now. A half-gallon is 64 fluid ounces. That's about $0.11/oz. I found Haagen Daz on kmart.com at $7.19 for 28 fluid ounces. That's $0.26/oz, or more than twice the price. Do I pay way more for Blue Bell than I realize?
