I think most people ask the wrong question. The question shouldn't be, Could Curry lead the 76ers to the Finals (in arguably the worst conference ever)? It should be, Could Iverson lead the Warriors to be the #1 seed in a stacked western conference?

Stephen Curry is better offensively and defensively than Iverson ever was, and to me it's not even close.

If Iverson would have been on this Warriors team they would have won 45 games and missed the playoffs because he would have been far too busy shooting 25 times a game at the expense of offensive flow.

That's an absurd take. Curry wouldn't even be the top 2 reasons why the Warriors won so many more games than last year. The main reasons are Bogut being healthy and the emergence of Draymond Green. Iverson being in place of Curry doesn't change those factors.

They'd still win 60+ games minimum and maybe he'd probably win MVP, considering the stupidity of the best player on best team argument.

He wasn't even the most valuable player on that team, Mutombo was. That team won with defense.

Offensively Iverson was a ball hog, so they gave him teammates that would do everything else.

    00-01 76ers XRapm leaders

    Dikembe Mutombo 5.8
    Theo Ratliff 3.3
    Allen Iverson 3.2
    Toni Kukoc 3.2

Only 2 times was Iverson XRAPM over 2.5, and he topped out at 3.6

Real MVP candidates like Curry, Harden and LeBron are routinely up over 6.

I think he could, but he probably wouldn't win as many games as the Curry led Warriors did, mostly because Iverson plays more selfish than Curry did and because Curry is the better defender.

I don't think folks remember how dominant Iverson was.

This is incredibly close... The Sixers created the worst offensive team of all time, and Iverson made them competent.

AI... because he didn't need practice..

Curry is the better player hands down. If you really think its AI, you really need to learn basketball.

Sure, Curry has a better team, but the player individually is a freaking beast and still has time to get into his prime.

AI all day. Curry hasn't even been out of the second round. I hope the Grizz keep him down there. Conley and Allen are going to erase the Curry and Klay!

But AI was the man back in the day. Even old man AI in Denver with Melo was pretty potent. Can't give it to Curry yet. Maybe one day though.

Wow, didn't realize Curry was so revered and put on a pedestal on this board.. I don't have particularly high opinion about AI but to say Curry is hands down better than Iverson is just ridiculous. Many people point to how good and efficient of a shooter Curry is - and he really is though - yet fail to take into account various factors in play in terms of the support he's getting from his teammates that allows Curry to maximize and capitalize on his strengths. The fact of the matter is, Iverson would destroy Curry 1-1, is more clutch and can make really tough shots. Curry can definitely create his own shots, but not to the extent Iverson can. What makes Curry special is his off-the-ball movement coupled with Golden State's fluid offensive scheme (Golden State leads the nba in team assists). This is why many people have doubts about whether Curry can shoulder the heavy load and lead a mediocre team to the finals like Iverson has.

Curry is not an unstoppable one-man force like Iverson or Harden. He actually depends a lot on what kind of system he is playing in and the level of talent of the players surrounding him. Much of his field goals are fed by his teammates and he rarely scores on isolation situation. So, of course his shots will go in more often than not, because he takes less tougher shots than Kobe, Iverson or Harden. And yes, I partially give credit to his impressive off-the-ball skills that allows him to create space and do his thing, but it does not change the fact that he still relies on his teammates to find and feed him when he gets clean open looks.

The bottom line is Curry's style of play is somewhat very different from the previous MVPs and Superstars that we have known to this day. He is more efficient for sure, but at the same time he depends on the system and team plays a lot more than the likes of Iverson. So when people have questions about whether Curry can carry a team to 60 + wins and to the NBA finals without getting support that he has gotten this year, I would say that's pretty legitimate.

To me, Curry can make a pretty good team look great as he brings that extra firepower if you will, but Iverson can transform even a mediocre team to a legit title contender, as he has proven so.

Curry is a less deserving mvp than Rose was. Overrated as hell. I really hope they don't win the championship.

Iverson is one of the most exciting players I ever saw play but Curry is the best shooter I've ever seen so I'd take Iverson for entertainment value but I'd take Curry to win games.

Put A.I.'s heart & physical durability (2 massively underrated attributes) in steph "red" curry's body & brain (primarily emotional IQ), and you have a player.

On their own? I don't necessarily want either one.

I'm sorry Easy but that's ridiculous. We'll agree to disagree but the teams that Iverson and the Sixers beat that year weren't D-League squads. Curry would have gotten that Sixers team swept in the 1st Round against Jalen Rose, Reggie Miller and the Pacers.
