Interesting quote from Luhnow in an article on the Chron today. If Correa works his way to Fresno by the end of May, I don't think it's unreasonable at all to expect him in Houston soon after the All-Star break. “I don’t know (if he needs to go) through the whole thing, but I want a couple teams to come back and say, ‘OK, well, we faced this guy last time, how are we going to get him out this time and have a plan of attack?’” Luhnow said. “And see how he reacts to that. It’s happening now. We look at it on a week-by-week basis and see whether the next step is now or a week from now or two weeks from now. “There’s a good chance we’ll get him up (to Class AAA) this month.”
If that's really important then leave him in AA until June then promote him to the Majors. I don't get why promoting him to AAA is the way to go since 1) it doesn't allow him to face the same teams multiple times and 2) it doesn't help the big league club which could really use his services right now.
Because... that's what Luhnow believes in. TBH, even if you leave him in AA, and he faces several teams multiple times, no team is going to get a for-sure "book" on a player with as much talent as Correa in less than a year's worth of AB's. If he's going to be up here, regardless of how he does in any level, in late June/July, what does it matter if he's promoted to AAA ahead of time? If anything, he faces more mature (some AAAA) players that have had big league experience that may be craftier than the flame-throwing phenoms he's facing now.
I wonder how much longer Brett Phillips is gonna stay in Lancaster. He now has 233 PA between last season and this one with a 1.010 OPS, and good road splits also. DJ Fisher is also putting up great numbers at QC, it seems like a tandem promotion of both of them should happen pretty soon.
Great news.

Vince Velasquez nearing assignment to a minor league affiliate. Been pitching in extended spring training. Daniel Mengden: 6IP 5H 0R 0BB 4Ks 26/3 K/BB in 23.2 IP now with a 1.52 ERA. Looking good so far. Him and Musgrove have become a very good duo at Low-A

How many times has this opponent faced him before? Is he getting worse or better the 2nd time around?

Mengden, Musgrove and Bryan Radziewski (LHP, 9th rd '14) have combined to throw 71.1 IP with 74/9 K/BB and a 1.39 ERA
George Springer to the DL, Lowrie to 60 day DL and Tucker called up from Fresno, Tucker was hitting .320/.378/.650/1.028 with a MiLB leading 10 HRs and 32 RBIs. Also another good stat is he only struck out 16% of the time while walking 8%. He will join the team in Anaheim.

Some good performances today: Oberholtzer: 5.1IP 4H 0R 0BB 9K So a great game after a terrible game. I really hope he can come back strong and help out our rotation. Singleton: 3-3 2HRs 1BB Reed: 2-3 2HRs 9RBIs 2BB Also Phillips went 1-3, but had 3 walks which doubled his walk total.
