Exactly. I do not like Mchale as our coach but no way this is on him. Players dribbling the ball off their feet , throwing cross court passes that get intercepted. Mchale shouldnt have to teach these fools basics like how to dribble .

McHale is just not a good coach when plan A fails, there is no plan B.

It is actually the orgs plan, layups, foul shots and 3ball - well the layups are over with Jordan in the lane, but we have no post game to go to, no midrange, no pin downs, no movement off the ball.

This is one of the WORST coached NBA teams I have ever seen, think, we got rid of JVG and Adelman for McHale....I mean that is like mind numbing if you are trying to win, and I mean REALLY trying to win.

That is why I don't believe for one second that Le$ Alexander is all in, I think he is a hedger - just like he is in business - and cares more about $$$$ than winning.

And it shows with the product on the floor.

worst part for me about last night was watching a one-legged chris paul upright, pacing, and actively engaged all along the sideline basically the entire duration of the game while mchale sat in his chair stationary, puzzled, and frozen not unlike a deer caught in the proverbial headlights

So, Plan A is.....play hard, don't let the ball get sticky, "push it, guys, RUN"?

Plan B is....sit trembling, babbling how they didn't do the above, stupefied and angry, when the team loses, in front of the press, red Solo cup at hand?

What I don't understand is a guy as smart as Morey sticking with him, he clearly has to see how inept McHale is as a coach.

We have the talent, we just lack the plan and the execution or discipline needed to execute that plan.

McHale is just not a good coach - you can't coast on talent alone in the playoffs.

I'd love the get the candid answer. There's obviously a reason behind it. The whole "Morey doesn't think coaching matters" or "his ego is too big" shtick just embarrasses the people that post it.

I think the Rockets, and especially Morey, think that controlling coaching and plays are overrated. He's testing all sorts of theories and pushing the envelope to see what he can win with. Morey is way too smart to honestly think that McHale is a good coach. He is good friends with Bill Simmons who blasted McHale for terrible coaching during the Portland series. I just hope that he changes his tune if it fails miserably two years in a row.

What else would it be? Either he thinks McHale is a good coach or he doesn't think he is a good coach but thinks it doesn't matter. Why would he keep around a coach that he thought wasn't very good unless he thought coaching wasn't that important?

Ok. Then tell me what you think Morey sees in McHale? We have a narrow window with the best SG in the league and the best center in their prime. Clearly, if Morey thinks coaching matters he would have put the best staff possible around the superstars to make a legit run?

McHale was Morey's hand pick hire. McHale runs Moreyball and Morey philosophy and analytics like the puppet he is. McHale is a "yes" man and Morey is all too happy with that. He has backed McHale and promoted for him constantly on twatter and everywhere. Don't you think it would affect Morey's cred if he accepts he was wrong all along? Morey has too big an ego to accept that.

I don't think the offense matches the personnel. The Rockets play a read-and-react offense with players who are illiterate. They are all about points in the paint and 3-pointers, yet, most of the team can't make a free throw when fouled in the paint, and our 3 point shooters are below average.

Despite these flaws though, playing with effort and determination can overcome a lot of problems, two things the rockets clearly didn't have last night. I honestly don't know if that's a McHale problem or a player problem, although I think there's enough blame to go around after last night's embarrassing performance.

GM doesn't have full control of personnel. Morey doesn't control Rockets like PJax does for Knicks.

Les + players' opinions matter a lot.

So let me get this straight... Plan A is get out in transition, run the floor, get to the basket for lay ups and foul shots, and shoot open 3 pointers.

What exactly should Plan B be? Slow it down? Shoot mid-range jumpers?

I saw Plan B in action last night actually. They started posting up Dwight down low, and it worked for a while.

The Clippers just flat out played better last night. They wanted it more.

It makes perfect sense for Morey to stick with him. When you succeed with what the nation considers one of the dumber coaches, then it proves that's the special sauce is in the plan put together by the GM.

To me this sums up the arrogance of Morey/McHale...

Do you think Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovich have ever considered having their teams attempt 33 three point attempts per game? Clearly they have, and clearly they both agree that this is NOT the way to win a title. 16 NBA titles say that this is NOT the way to win big in the postseason.

I do not believe that Morey thinks McHale is an adequate coach. He is a decent recruiter and is willing to run Moreys flawed system, which is why he was hired in the first place. Until Morey focuses on strictly being a GM and let's a real coach, coach this team, he's no better than Jerry Jones.

We just got our asses kicked by Moreys "flawed" system. Clips put up 31 3s, but they made them. The same Clips who sent the great Pop home.

Really odd post. Pop has won a title plenty of different ways. Hell they beat Miami in the finals just last year by bombing away 3s.

According to Les, the Rockets have already exceeded expectations by making it out of the first round
