I remember this one time when everyone knew who the best player was, the real MVP; yet they gave it to some guy from a team west of Houston that had a great regular season record. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hW4uXlRGAF0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Sometimes there are multiple deserving guys. Curry's season is beyond reproach. This is not unexpected and I'm okay with it.
I think we all saw this coming, or should have. No surprise here. The only bit of news will be how the votes were split. And what if it demoralizes Harden and he ends up sucking? Because they put the awards up to a vote. If they were tied in the voting, they might be co-mvps. Obviously, that didn't happen.
While I feel that Harden fit the description of being more "valuable" to his team - hard to argue against curry he helped lead his team to an amazing and historical. While sure that warriors team is loaded but Curry is the engine that makes them go. Curry had a historical shooting season himself. Congrats to Steph
J.R. used to be a top 5 poster, now he's a rebel lol. Hopefully he doesn't have any more meltdowns on here.
To me, the equally astounding fact is 13 voters put Harden at 3rd place and 4 voters at 4th. So 13 people thought Westbrook or LeBron is more deserving of an MVP award than Harden?
I thought it would be closer. http://ak-static.cms.nba.com/wp-con.../04/Kia-2014-15-MVP-Voting-Ballot-Results.pdf
I think you mean Lebron is the best player every year and that is undeniable. Most Valuable is somewhere between "best player" and "best player on the best team" and can vary year by year based on the combination of stats, team success, and the individual's overall value to the team's success. Most people would say Lebron's team underperformed this season, so you would be calling him the most valuable player on an under-performing team...doesn't really have a great ring to it.
People have different opinions of MVPs, which is why it's so hard to explain to people. Some voters think it's the best player in the league, and thus they either vote for Lebron (who can be MVP every year) or Westbrook (who was an juggernaut individually). Most think it's wins (Curry). If you want to win an MVP outright, you simply gotta have a season like Lebron or Durant and just make it easy on the voters. Other cases will be wishy washy (Rose, Nash, and so on).
