JA Happ has turned out to have a decent career given his misfortunes with us. Should be a barnburner this afternoon.
AJ Hinch had said at the beginning of the season that if you homer you are most likely in the lineup the next day, today is the first time this is not the case with Conger out of the lineup after homering last night (thought we might see Castro at DH or sitting out a second straight game with lefty on the mound). Also, I might have expected to see Villar at SS and Margo at 3b not the other way around. Today's lineup: 2B Jose Altuve (R) SS Marwin Gonzalez (S) RF George Springer (R) DH Evan Gattis (R) 1B Chris Carter (R) LF Colby Rasmus (L) CF Jake Marisnick (R) C Jason Castro (L) 3B Jonathan Villar (S)
happ better not pitch like he is some kind of Ace again. let's get a couple of homers on him, five would be nice.
Rasmus reminds me of Kelly Leak from the Bad News Bears.....I'm liking what he's bringing. The mindset around here is that he'll be traded if he's doing well and I believe he should be kept around . Solid to exceptional players are what make winning teams.
I think the mindset will be adjusted as the season goes on. The longer they stay in contention, the less chance that someone will be moved unless it is for the betterment of the team this season.
Valbuena is out of the lineup as well even though he homered. Gattis also was not in the lineup after he homered in the 14-3 game (although he did pinch hit). Rasmus was not in the lineup after he homered in the 7-2 game (although he did pinch hit).
Oh I truly believe the Astros will stay the course, I was speaking of the fans mentality of trading away successful players. That too will change in time. Years of failure and trading away players for prospects has warped the confidence in the front office.
He largely made that comment in jest from what I recall. I am mildy surprised after his big day, and against a lefty that Conger isn't starting.
Imagine the national coverage if the Cubs had a 9 game winning steak and had the second best record in baseball. I haven't heard a thing about the Stros streak on ESPN
The Stros don't have any big names. Even Altuve who you could argue as being the best player in the BIGS right now, is a small 5'5 who doesn't hit the long ball like Stanton or Trout. Very Cardinalesque group.
Let it go man, it aint happenin. We could win the WS and they would talk about next years Yanks, Sox matchups. Only reason Watt got any decent coverage was because he wouldn't be denied as the baddest football player on the planet.
Is there any way to watch the games from Dallas? I tried looking into mlb.tv but it seems Astros games are blacked out even in Dallas...
Astros struck-out less times (4) than their opponent (7) last night. Doubt that's happened more than 5x this year.
I thought the Sunday home uniform is the dark jersey with the rainbow pits. Did they do away with that uni? I can't remember them wearing that one yet this season.
