You are probably right, but Hoes ain't gonna help us....Tucker might And we don't really need Grossmans position flexibility with the other OF we have
That is fair, but reality is, that Tucker is a long shot to make his debut any time soon. If the team hadn't acquired Gattis, I'd like Tucker's shot a lot better.
Help with what? We've got three solid OF'ers in Springer, Marisnick, and Rasmus. Gattis may eventually slot into the OF mix. If they pump and dumb Rasmus I could see Tucker get an extended look, but otherwise he needs to play every day at AAA. This is starting to sound like the Wojo conversation; everyone's enamored with his prospect upside.
Oh I totally agree, I just think that with 3 legit Centerfield guys on the team already, a potential bat would help a lot more than a guy like Hoes. Not saying it's gonna happen anytime soon
Not me, the talk was about Tucker or Hoes, and if it came down to those two I'm saying i'd prefer Tucker and his potential bat. Not saying I think he is ready to come up and be the next Babe Ruth or Jake Marisnick
Problem with going after Hamels, is I think Philly tries to make anyone who wants Hamels also take Papelbon's contract. Now adding Papelbon to the pen we already have would make us crazy good out there, but we won't be likely to take on both Hamels contract (which is pretty good really) and Pap's also. Not sure who would, but if Boston is desperate enough they might.
Yea I think so too, he has a good chance to be a solid mlb starter. A lot of guys struggle in their first chance.
McCullers another very nice outing tonight 6 Innings, 2 runs, 2 hits, 2 bb, 7 K's He has been outstanding so far
Hamels contract is paid fair market value. Good deal if signing as a free agent, but not a good deal to pay contract and send high level prospects. Phillies have said they aren't paying any of his salary. Astros have shown patience and are much more likely to try trade for Cueto.
Depends what prospects we're talking about. I agree overall. Would be plenty fine with Cueto. Either way, I think chances are very high that we come out of the trade deadline with an(other) ace. Just makes too much sense not to happen mid-season rather than in the offseason, assuming the winning keeps up.
Joe Musgrove @ Wisconsin: 5 IP, 3 H, 3 K Lowered his ERA to 0.70. He's sporting a 23-1 K-BB ratio in 25.1 innings.
He's a real interesting case. He's currently not even in the pecking order for a major league call-up, having all of 25 ip above short season, but do they push him and see if he's worth protecting? Or just say screw it, no one's gonna grab an A ball player and if they do he won't stick (ala Gustave). Getting a quick promotion to Lancaster will immediately throw him in the fire. If he flops there he's not getting picked in the Rule V.
Domingo Santana with two homers today. He's had a really strong start to the season, seems to be the forgotten man in the system.
He's got a 38.2% strikeout rate. That's why no one's talking about him. Tucker's got better raw numbers with a 17.5% K rate.
