    Some interesting Chinese nicknames:

McHale - The fridge (Because he often benches players for no reason)
    Harden - The Beard
Howard - Monster/Spark (His name in Mandarin sounds like "spark")
    Ariza - Brick-za
    TJones - Milk
    J-Smoove -Musician
    Capela - Card
Brewer - Monk Sha (A character in the Chinese classical novel "Journey to the West")
Papa - The Monkey King (Also a character in "Journey to the West")
Nick Johnson - Nick Lin(Because he's as turnover-prone as Lin)

Do Chinese Rockets' fans also blame the Chinese national team for pretty much shortening Yao's career with all the unnecessary commitments every year?

Luis Scola played many professional games in Spain, with the national team and is still playing in the NBA.

Big difference between 7 ft 6 inches and 6 ft 9 inches. Yao was always prone to foot injuries. Luis wasn't.

Luis Scola is not 7 feet 6 inches tall and a giant of a man with brittle feet. He also never had any problems with his feet that would have caused him to slow down and curtail his national team commitments.

Ultimately, Luis Scola always had the choice, Yao never did it was in his contract that he had to do it in order to be able to play in the NBA.

FWIW I did not get to watch many 7'6 Centers.

I recall Shawn Bradley and he was not plagued by serious foot problems more like knee problems.

I think he played couple more years than Yao Ming.
