I can see OT happening, simply because it is not a sexy pick and texans fans would have the wind taken out of their sails.

I'm ok with an OT pick if the guy is obviously going to be a starter from day 1 for the next 10 years, but I'm not sure the texans really need to reach for one in the 1st. Duane has years left and I though Newton actually played well.

This is the year it did take forever to arrive:confused:

I don't think the Texans have a specific target, I think it absolutely hinges on the 15 picks in front of them and who is available. I haven't really ended up with a rooting interest for a particular player to drop but Dupree would do nicely. If a top pass rusher doesn't drop, I would pick DGB at 16 but I don't think the Texans would. I would use him in a lot of different positions, in the Gronkowski mode trying to get him matched up with safeties and linebackers in the seams, and at WR. Two for one.

I wouldn't hate taking Gurley. He spells Arian, insures him against injury and sets up to take over someday. We could have 2 , 1000 yard rushers and that would really help cover any weakness at QB.

I can see good reasons to take Cameron Irving. He might win the C job. He would push XSF. He would be there to take over either spot in case of injury. He could be a future pro bowler.

For WR, what's the drop off from 2nd best prospect to 3rd best, and from 3rd best to 4th best?

Pretty big drop off after Cooper, White, and Parker IMO. With that said, this is a super deep WR draft and there is some serious talent that will be available at #16 and possibly in the 2nd.

I think that Cooper and White are 1A and 1B with Parker slightly below. But those are clearly the cream of the crop.

Under that, there's a big group consisting of guys like Strong, Perriman, Dorsett, Agholor, Smith (and maybe a couple others) that could be interchangeable depending on your opinion. Sheer numbers suggest that we should be able to get one of the guys in this group in the 2nd round, which is why many think we'll pass in the first.

If DGB gets his act together, some team could get the best WR in the draft late. He's the most naturally gifted of any of the guys, IMO.

I don't think Gurley will be available at #16 so I believe the Texans will go defense or offensive lineman.

An OT is not starting from day 1 on this team, unless they also play G. Brown is going nowhere any time soon and they just paid Newton. I feel like OT would be a waste of a first round pick at this time, because in all likelihood they're not starting for 2-3 years at OT.

I tend to agree about the 2-3 years from now. I think OT is fairly well covered now and there are other more blatant needs that this team needs if they want to be playoff team and not be in "build" mode. If you get a project, get one in round 3-4. They need an immediate starter with the #1 and that seems more likely elsewhere.

LB/DE seems like the likely areas followed by secondary.

WR makes sense too, but for whatever reason I don't see them going that route with the first pick.

But i don't care...just get a guy who is a above average starter from day 1.

especially love the idea that because he was a walk on he must have been roiding. Heaven forbid a HS kid isn't fully developed by the time he graduates

There was actually a lot of thinly veiled racism in their comments. But let's keep this out of the D&D.
