Not that exciting. At least for me. The brief moments when you are actually going through them is amazing, but it is too short.

I've only been in II, III, and IV, over two trips to CO in the Arkansas River.

I dunno, where I was, it was nonstop action for at least an hour.

kayaking is more relaxing, of course.

I'd love to find that. Class 3-5 almost non-stop would easily be worth $100 to me.

I just bought a kayak last night. I love camping and fishing and found a killer deal on a kayak right by my house. I plan on taking it to Lake Conroe this weekend. I also want to take it into some of the backwater around Galveston bay. Does anyone have any good fishing spots I should check out around the bay or lakes? I am cool with both freshwater and saltwater.

I don't know how I missed this thread. I love kayaking. I have a pelican sit on top fishing kayak that I absolutely LOVE! I just got my gf a sit on top kayak as well. Being in the RGV, we fish the lower laguna madre, and my gf and I kill the trout! Over the summer, we would limit out in a few hours. We've caught bonnet head sharks, jack crevalle, redfish, gafftopsail....I even foul hooked a puffer fish. As a matter of fact, we're going out again this Saturday if the weather holds up.

Good luck to all the kayak fisherman. Nothing like kayaking in the bay as the sun comes up and a trout or red crash a topwater!!!

A couple of years ago, some guys rented the beach house down from us in Jamaica beach for a month. Everyday they kayaked out about a half mile and dropped baited and weighted hooks and ran the lines back in to shore. They caught 5 and 6 foot sharks every day. The said they were cutting them up into steaks and freezing them.

Done that down in Port A, except we used waverunners. We let them go, though, not a big fan of shark meat.

I'm going on a four day/three night kayaking trip near Seattle in June. Hopefully I can fight a whale.
